SCUK Spring Bash
Thursday1January
1970
Date: | Thu, 1 Jan 1970, 1:00am |
When: | Today |
Here at Snowboard Club (and Freeski Club) we want everybody riding more often, enjoying snowboarding and skiing and loving the benefits of Club Membership all year round. To us, that means a summer of freestyle in the UK. This isn't a competitive event, but a progression session for those that can already ride, but have "the fear" of those rails, boxes and kickers. If that's you, then you'll love the 7th SCUK Spring Bash at The Snow Centre Hemel Hempstead.
The Spring Bash
From 11am to 9pm on Saturday 3rd June, with 30% discounts on all session prices from Hemel, coaching from Maverix and Definition, demo kit and a SCUK Jam session to end.
- 11am : doors open for the SCUK Spring Bash, all day freestyle starts with kit demos from our partners.
- 11am - 6.30pm : dedicated hour long freestyle coaching sessions on Hemel's lesson slope.
- 7pm - 9pm : the lesson slope opens to all and the SCUK Bash Jam begins on the main slope.
- 9pm : end of the SCUK Spring Bash for another year.
Here's some "happy" faces from our last Spring Bash.

Lift Passes - Booking Now Open!
We highly recommend you book in advance as we've run this event at capacity every year and had to turn people away, which is never good.
There are four passes available. A 1 or 2 hour pass, an evening pass or a day pass. The number of day passes is limited, but when they're sold out you'll still be able to book the other passes.
All passes are at a special 30% discount for Club Members or Hemel Members. The evening and day passes are extended for the Spring Bash, so even better value.
- 1 hour any time lift pass: standard adult price £38, reduced to £26.60.
- 2 hour any time lift pass: standard adult price £48, reduced to £33.60.
- 3 hour Evening lift pass extended to 4 hours, 5pm to 9pm: standard adult price of £39, reduced to £27.30.
- 8 hour All Day lift pass extended to 10 hours, 11am to 9pm: standard adult price of £49, reduced to £34.30.
If you want to become a Hemel Member and benefit from a 30% discount all year round, you can save 55% on the price as a Club Member... yes, that's a £71.50 saving! Just take your Club Membership card when you sign up at Hemel's reception.
Hemel monthly pass holders can pre-book their usual 2 hours of "free" slope time during the event, but space will almost certainly be limited if you wanted any additional time on the slope during the event and you may not be able to return - it may be worth booking an evening pass if you really fancied entering the jam session for example.
As part of the event, Hemel are also offering all Club Members a 30% discount on the cost of their June monthly pass!
All the discount codes for the event are available to Club Members here.
Freestyle Coaching
Discovering your freestyle mojo is what this event is all about and we have two of the best companies in the business to help you find it! Fully qualified freestyle instructors will take you from an absolute freestyle beginner to somebody confident in giving freestyle a go.
Coaching sessions cost just £5 each for SCUK Members and £10 otherwise.
Definition and Maverix will be running coaching sessions from 11am until 6.30pm. Each session will focus on kickers, boxes or flatland freestyle, are for a group size of up to 10 people and will be an hour long. There will be small kickers and other beginner features on Hemel's lesson slope exclusively for the use of Maverix and Definition. Definition will be catering for skiers with a dedicated coach on the day - just book on any of their sessions and they'll look after you.
You must have a valid Snow Centre lift pass for your time on the slope during a coached session.

Reserving Your Coaching Sessions
You can reserve up to 3 sessions in advance up until Friday evening. Just email infoactionsports [dot] club with your full name and the session code(s) you're after (e.g. "DEF-3S"). We'll reply to confirm your reservation. If you can no longer come, please let up know so we can free up places.
Plenty of coaching will still be available on the day, so come and find us before each session starts and see what we have. Priority will be given to those that haven't been/booked on any sessions and to Club Members.
Payment for coaching must be in cash at the SCUK stand at least 20 minutes before the session starts. If you've reserved a session, but show up late we may well have sold your session. We'll issue you with a ticket that you need to hand to your coach on the slope.
The Freestyle Day Park
There will be freestyle features open from 11am on the main slope. The aim is to create a beginner friendly freestyle park that should last until 9pm, so snowboarders and skiers can give freestyle a go, perhaps for the first time on a coached session and then put what they've learnt to practice after the session or just practice what they already know. The freestyle day park on the main slope is open to everybody.
Hemel's lesson slope is reserved for the Spring Bash coaching sessions until 6.30pm, when it will then open to all.
It may be necessary to close certain features throughout the day, so Hemel's park team can perform any necessary maintenance.

SCUK Spring Bash Jam Session
For an hour before close, you get to show off a bit. The park will give the freestyle newbie in you a chance to put your new skills to the test. We'll have a heap of prizes to throw down. At a SCUK Jam, we give prizes to people giving it a go and you're just as likely to get a T-shirt for falling over as doing a front-flip.
The SCUK prize chest will be bursting as usual, but don't expect snowboards and free holidays as this is all about prizes for everybody.
