SCUK Spring Bash
Jump, bonk, grab, spin and slide! Come and give freestyle snowboarding and skiing a go. Join in the evening jam session.
Here at SCUK we want everybody riding more often, enjoying snowboarding and loving the benefits of SCUK Membership all year round. To us, that means a summer of freestyle in the UK. If you can already ride, but have "the fear" of those rails, boxes and kickers, then the 6th SCUK Spring Bash at Hemel is just for you.
We'll have rails, kickers and boxes out on the slope for the duration, with bargain beginner freestyle coaching sessions for those that want them.
The Spring Bash
From 3pm to 10pm on Saturday 16th May, with amazing session prices from Hemel. We'll let you know when the booking is live, which should be any day now!
3pm - freestyle coaching starts on the lesson slope
4pm - the main slope park opens to everybody else
9pm - coaching stops, the lesson slope opens to all and the jam begins on the main slope
10pm - end of the SCUK Spring Bash for another year.
These are now available to book.
Note: The earliest lift passes you can book start at 4pm, but that will get you on to the coaching slope at 3pm if you have the 3pm coaching session reserved. Otherwise, if you're on a coaching session, you need a slope pass that is at least valid for the start of your coached session.
SCUK Members can save the usual 10% on the above Adult and Junior prices. Just phone Hemel on 0844 770 7227 to make your booking and bring your SCUK membership card with you on the day. Snow Centre members get their normal 30% discount. This is a special event, so any monthly pass you may have will not be valid.
You can also book your lift pass online at www.thesnowcentre.com/lift-passes. Select the event from the list, select the 16th May date and afternoon/evening (depending on when you want your pass to start) and the number of passes required.
Whilst the parks will be closed until the event starts, you can still get on the main slope to warm up. Hemel are offering us two hour passes for half price - just quote "SCUK20".
Snow Centre Membership
Snow Centre Membership is £130 for adults and £90 for juniors, but SCUK Members save a whopping 55% on those prices. Now that's a saving! You can join both SCUK and The Snow Centre on the day if you want.
JOIN SCUK NOW FOR JUST £15 or join SCUK on the day (cash only).
SCUK Members enjoy a 10% discount at Snow+Rock. That's 10% off everything in store (excluding the Cycle Surgery and sale items). All you need is your SCUK membership card.
Not a SCUK Member?
That's no problem, you can still come and play and perhaps join on the day if you want.
Add your name to the Facebook event page.
Finding your freestyle mojo is what this event is all about and we have two of the best companies in the business to help you find it! Fully qualified freestyle instructors will take you from an absolute freestyle beginner to somebody confident in giving freestyle a go.
Definition and Maverix will be running coaching sessions from 3pm. Each session is for a group size of around 6, will be an hour long and cost just £5 for SCUK members, £10 otherwise. There will be small kickers and other beginner features on Hemel's lesson slope exclusively for coaching.
The Coaching Sessions
If the block is red, it means all 6 places on this session are reserved.
Reserving Your Coaching Sessions
BOOKING IS NOW CLOSED!
Spare coaching places will be available on the day, so come and find us before each session starts. Priority will be given to those that haven't been/booked on any sessions and to SCUK Members. We aim to fill all sessions.
Payment for sessions must be in cash at the SCUK stand at least 20 minutes before the session starts. There is a cash machine on site. If you're late paying we will attempt to sell your reserved place to somebody else. We'll issue you with a ticket that you need to hand to your coach on the slope. You must have a valid Snow Centre slope pass for your time on the slope (see above).

There will be freestyle features open from 4pm on the main slope. The aim is to create a beginner friendly freestyle park that should last until close, so snowboarders and skiers can give freestyle a go, perhaps for the first time on a coached session and then put what they've learnt to practice after the session or just practice what they already know. The freestyle is available to all, even if you're not booked on a coaching session.
Hemel's lesson slope is reserved for the Spring Bash coaching sessions until 9pm.
DOUK, Endeavor, Smokin, West and Dupraz snowboards will along for the event and will have a selection of their shred sticks to demo on the day. We highly recommend taking the DOUK Asbo for a spin, which was one of our top snowboards from the 2015 Spring Break board test in Austria. Hemel local Ed Castle-Henry rides for Smokin and Henry Jackson rates him as one of the most exciting riders in the world. Not heard of Dupraz? Well neither had we until the Spring Break, but let's just say they measure their snowboard in feet and inches, surf-stylee and you'll get the picture.
The Jam Session
For the last hour of the Spring Bash you get to show off a bit. The park will give the freestyle newbie in you a chance to put your new skills to the test. We'll have a heap of prizes to throw down. At a SCUK jam, we give prizes to people giving it a go and you're just as likely to get a T-shirt for falling over as doing a front-flip.
The SCUK prize chest will be bursting as usual, but don't expect snowboards and free holidays as this is all about prizes for everybody.
The SCUK Spring Bash event page can be administered by dunx (Dunx), stu (Stu Brass), todd (Todd Grady), spencer (Spencer Claridge) and office (ASC HQ).
