Tamworth Snowdome

The Tamworth Snowdome is situated north east of Birmingham, a few miles off the M42. It opened in May 1994 and was the first full sized recreational indoor slope in the UK for skiing and snowboarding.

Tamworth is arguably the best indoor slope in the UK. Whilst the slope isn't as long as Milton Keynes, the atmosphere and general customer care make up for this ten fold, especially during the late night snowboard sessions.

The indoor ski slope allows you to ski and snowboard all year round on real snow. It utilises a process developed by ProSnow International of Adelaide, Australia which now jointly owns the slope. Their process allows the manufacture of snow that will stay in top class condition, while the ambient temperature of the building remains at a comfortable 5-8°C.

Opening Times

Morning Club/ Morinin' Boardin'

3 hour discount ski and board session every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am.

Monday Night Special

3 hour discounted ski and board session with a ramp and rail on the slope.

Boardstiff

Snowboard only ramp night every Tuesday from 8.30pm to midnight. Resident DJ, quarterpipe, funbox and heaps of rails.

Ski Wednesday

3 hour discounted ski only session with BASI coaching and a ramp between 8pm and 11pm.

Freeztylers

A monthly freeski night with ramps, rails, quarterpipe and funbox. Every last Ski Wednesday of the month.

BladeRunnerz

3 hour discounted ski, board and blade session with a ramp and rail. Every Thursday from 8pm to 11pm.

Fresh

Legendary snowboard (and freestyle skiers from Jan 8th to March 26th) ramp night every Saturday 10pm to 1.30am. All the toys are out, plus a DJ and late bar. Discounted session.

Sunday Night Special

3 hour discounted ski and board session every Sunday 8.15pm to 11.15pm.

Happy Hour

Discounted recreational ski and board session. Every Monday, Wednesday (ski only), Thursday, Friday and Sunday evening 10pm to 11pm.

Equipment Hire

Ski/board hire is included in the price, but you'll need to bring suitable clothing. Helmets are also freely available and mandatory in certain circumstances.

Cheapest indoor snow you're going to get. The membership deals make the Snowdome a bargain.

Lessons

Lessons are available for all standards.

Food/Drink

The bars at Tamworth are excellent. Very big and well stocked. They overlook the bottom of the slope. There's also a balcony that overlooks the quarterpipe and the total width at the bottom of the slope for those spectators wishing to get closer to the action. This often hosts a DJ and BBQ.

Other Facilities

Ellis Brigham/The Snowboard Asylum have a large shop on site.

Tamworth opened the Rocky Mountain Bar in January 2005, plus an indoor skidoo racing track, kids play area and ice rink.

There's also a swimming pool (that uses the waste heat from the slope) and a fitness centre. Since October 2007, these are also owned and run by The Snowdome Group.
