Chill Factore in Manchester was launched in 2007 and is still the country’s longest indoor real snow slope at 180m. It is conveniently located just off junction 10 on the M60, opposite the popular Trafford Centre and has free parking.
There is a freestyle park on dedicated nights (generally Wednesday, Thursday & Friday) and the shaping crew are an accomplished and dedicated bunch ensuring they keep things fresh and always have a range of boxes, rails and kickers that suit all abilities. At the time of writing it also plays host to the British Indoor Slopestyle Championships.
The main slope is serviced by 2 drag lifts with the separate learner slopes equipped with more beginner-friendly travellators. An interesting mountain-scape mural runs the entire length of the main slope and a few decent bars and restaurants share great views onto the slope with slope-side balconies, so it’s not a bad place to visit even when you’re not riding.
We were particularly struck by how much thought had gone into providing alternative snow activities, from the Mini Moose Land area for kids under 4 (they absolutely love it), to the Luge Slip ‘n’ Slide and Downhill Donuts. Additionally you have Airboarding, Extreme Sledging, Snowscooting.and a 12m climbing wall. Away from the slope there’s a complex of bars, restaurants and shops including Nandos, Mont Blanc, Costa, Snow+Rock, Subvert, Evans Cycles, Crystal and many more.
Chill Factore is also home to Disability Snowsport UK providing adaptive skiing for individuals with any disability, including physical, sensory and learning difficulties.
