A CLASSIC REINVENTED
To say that the Sims Kidwell RT2 was the board that everybody was talking about at this years on snow demos, would be the understatement of the year. You couldn't even get near this thing, let alone ride it. A reworking of perhaps the greatest snowboard in the history of the sport, this high performance all mountain freestyle board blew the mind of every single person that got on it. If you're a good snowboarder and you're not interested in all the bullshit that generally goes with high-end snowboards, get this on your feet. The fact that it seems to have become the board of choice for many of the sports legends kind of says it all.
Rider Style
Experienced through to advanced riders looking for a versatile freestyle inspired board that's happy riding everything on the mountain.
Shape Overview
Inspired by the classic Sims Terry Kidwell Round Tail (the board that redefined snowboarding back in the mid-80's),the Kidwell RT2 is built around a fully directional chassis. This all-terrain inspired shape features 7mm of taper and powder inspired nose to deliver stunning float in the deepest snow. However, the Kidwell isn't just about freeriding, to ensure that it remains playful when you want to j mess about, Sims fit it with the classic buttery round tail. Hence the name. As the Kidwell RT2 is all about performance across the whole mountain, Sims utilise their advanced Vario Power Grip sidecut. Formed by combining a deeper sidecut in front of the insert packs with a shallow sidecut under the feet and a straight section in the centre, it increases edge pressure to the most critical parts of the sidecut adding control and response in all type of terrain.
Profile
The Kidwell RT2's high-performance credentials are underlined with the addition of the powerful traditional camber profile. Although Sims add a bit of Micro Early Rise at the tip to enhance float, you'd still categorise this as a full cambered board. This gives a poppy and stable ride and helps energise that advanced Vario Grip sidecut, giving you the confidence to push this board to the limit.
Construction
Internally the Kidwell RT2 doesn't hold back when it comes to high-end construction, and heading this up is the Hybrid Core. This advanced wood core combines traditional poplar with lightweight stringers to deliver the perfect balance of pop and durability. To this Sims then add their advanced structural layers which are formed from bi-ax glass, but in this case, orientated to45
