Zoe Gillings-Brier clocked her best result of the season at the weekend, finishing in 9th position in the Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada, Spain. Gillings-Brier qualified in 11th place on Friday and progressed easily through to finals on Sunday. Finals saw Gillings-Brier make it through to the small final where she finished 3rd, meaning she took 9th place overall.
She said after the finish: "I'm over the moon with today’s result. Over the last 3 years I have trained and competed on a skeleton schedule – it’s been hard seeing all the other athletes training and competing full time, but I’ve done the best I can in the circumstances. I also took time out to have baby Léa and now I’m back at 100%.”
Teammate Maisie Potter also put in the performance of her season: initially qualifying for Sunday’s final, and eventually finishing in 14th overall - her best ever result at this level.

GB Park and Pipe halfpipe skier Rowan Cheshire showed that she is back on top form, winning the Swiss Ski Halfpipe Championships this weekend. Teammate Murray Buchan took third in the men’s competition, just days ahead of the Freestyle Ski Halfpipe World Championships in Sierra Nevada. Cheshire and Buchan will be joined by Madi Rowlands, Molly Summerhayes, Pete Speight and Alex Glavatsky-Yeadon in the Ski Halfpipe qualifiers on Thursday, with finals on Saturday.
In the men’s Snowboard Slopestyle at the World Championships, Billy Morgan unfortunately didn’t land either of his two runs in the finals, eventually finishing in 13th position overall. He will now move on to the Big Air competition with teammates Jamie Nicholls, Matt McCormick, Rowan Coultas and Aimee Fuller. Qualifiers start on Thursday.
The GB Park and Pipe skiers are also in action in the Slopestyle competition at the World Championships this week.
