![]() During the half-time break the new “B Movie” from Burton Snowboards was premièred in the newly refurbished bar upstairs, which went down well with the riders who congregated in the bar waiting for the slope to be re-groomed. Stand out performances on the night had to be from the two Oughton brothers, Dan and Jack. These two locals have been riding at Tamworth religiously for years and the practice is now paying off. They threw down a host of tricks on the two rails and gas-pipe and bagged themselves some goodies in the process. ![]() SnowDome instructor and general nice guy Luke Lightwood was killing it and managed to land a BS180, Switch 50/50, Cab 180 off onto the down bar and young Jake Perks stepped it up and was owning the stair-set. Double DaddyThe aim of the game - create a "skier & boarder" combo, hit the best line, style it up for the judges and the best team wins. There was some gallant attempts but out on top had to be the duo doing back flips off the barrel jib - a deserved1st prize went to Gareth Andrews and Andrew Longley. A very close 2nd to Thomas James & Charlie Smith plus some amazing lines from the all girl team, Sissy Herrant & Natalie Silkstone. Quarterpipe ShowdownThe scene was set, skis and snowboards were waxed and what followed can only be described as the most momentous quarterpipe battle ever seen on UK soil! Following an exciting qualifying session, 10 riders were selected for the grand finale Skiers can be Daddies too! SkiersChris Benner (defending his Who' The Daddy 2008 title) Charlie Smith Josh Herrant (junior) Sissy Hearrnt (junior) Josh Jenkins SnowboardersBen Izzard Ross Needham Chris Kightley Rob Lawton Alex Wayne Ben Izzard's winning runPreviously, only one snowboarder has taken the Who's The Daddy title and that was Dale Taylor back in 2007 so the pressure was on the snowboarders to claim back the crown. With the skiers killing it, the pressure mounted! The snowboarders certainly didn't hold back and there were some massive attempts from all the participants. However, the winner was clear after 2 attempts per rider and the Who's The Daddy crown went to Ben Izzard after he easily cleared the top of the tombstone, over 21 feet in the air! Joint second with a huge 20.5ft went to Charlie Smith & Chris Kightley, whilst best junior went to Josh Herrant and best female to Sissy Herrant A big huge thank you and well done to all the riders on the night.
