Laura Berry pops a park together for MK this week
Posted Monday 31st October 2011, 7:33 pm by Dunx
This week, SNO!zone Milton Keynes' local and SCUK buddy Laura Berry has designed an awesome shred-tastic park for the second Signature Park Series. This will be out for Thursday and Friday's freestyle nights and making a return is the monthly Parkstrife event on Saturday.

Laura Berry gave Jibber Jabber Blog a few words about herself and the reasons behind the park design...

Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do.

I started riding at MK when I was about 13 or 14 and since then, have done 5 seasons [abroad].

For the past couple of years I have been living in Morzine year round. I've been back for a couple of months and it's been cool to get back into riding indoor again like old times. I'm pretty stoked to have been asked to do a park for the Signature Sessions and hope it works out well.

Did you want to take us through the park you’ve created?

So, at the top of the park I've got a side on rail or gas pipe; just something easy to get the run started.

Then second set of features is going to be a flat bar with a gap on and drop off (or the down-flat-down), potentially set up as a flat-up-flat. I wanted something tech to ride and have put in the flat bar for people to spin on and off without the huck you normally need.

Third in line I have two kickers set up next to each other. One will have a bonk, one will be a normal jump but you'll also be able to transfer between the two with a little channel.

At the bottom there's a big mound of snow, and on one side, a big pole jam/up gas pipe so you can get a lot of air off the end, or land in the quater pipe shaped into the side. On the other side of the mound will be a big gap into a down bar.

Do you think your style of riding influenced your choice of park features?

Yeah! When I ride I like to hit jumps and features that give a lot of air-time.

I've never been a skater or anything so I've always gone for big stuff that means you have time in the air on a board. I'm hoping the set up will flow well so there isn't much stopping and starting as I like to do one run with a few features in a fluid movement.

What can we expect to see you doing in the coming months?

I will be shooting some photos and doing some filming. I'm then going back to Morzine and intend to do a few comps and magazine trips.

I'll also be filming some short films/podcasts for the guys at Westbeach throughout the season.

Antti Autti and Jenny Jones to guest at The Big Bang this weekend
Posted Friday 7th October 2011, 1:22 pm by Dunx
Well it's not very often that you get two X Games Gold Medallists in the same room, let alone a UK indoor slope, but come to The Big Bang Snowboard Show at Milton Keynes this Saturday and that's exactly what you'll get. Joining the regular Big Bang crew we have two extra special guests, X Games superpipe champion Antti Autti and our very own multiple X Games winner Jenny Jones. In addition we also have Head team riders Alex Tank and Tom Klocker.

But that’s not all, the freestyle coaching sessions are going to go off as the Milton Keynes park crew are shaping a special setup for the day. Plus we have the UK’s biggest snowboard demo, tonnes of snowboard related seminars and great on the day deals. We’ll see you tomorrow.

The Big Bang heads for MK
Posted Tuesday 4th October 2011, 4:07 pm by Dunx
This Saturday The Big Bang Snowboard Show rolls into Milton Keynes for the third stop on the UK wide tour. The first two dates were amazing with huge crowds turning up to test kit, attend a seminar, get coached and meet the special guests. Milton Keynes will be no different. Head Snowboards team riders Tom Klocker and Alex Tank can’t get enough of UK indoor riding and make a welcome return to the show after last weekend in Braehead. But that’s not all, they will be joined by an extra special mystery guest (we will let you know on the TSA Facebook page who this is a couple of days before the show).

With the amazing price SNO!zone have agreed you can be on the slope demoing or being coached for a whole two hours for just £15! Want longer on the slope? You can get three hours for just £21 and four hours for only £25. It’s never been cheaper to ride at a Big Bang Snowboard Show

And don’t forget the TSA store at Xscape Milton Keynes are offering 10% off all new 2012 kit to anyone who has attended the Big Bang, but only on the day of the show.
