Snow+Rock is proud to be partnering with world’s leading outdoor brand Arc’teryx, to open their first stand-alone store in Europe. This exciting new store will be coming to St Martin’s Courtyard in London’s Covent Garden, in August.

Covent Garden is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts and St Martin’s Courtyard is a unique and stylish shopping and dining destination in the heart of this vibrant shopping district. The St Martin’s Courtyard development has created a prestigious pedestrian shopping area linking Long Acre and Seven Dials, adjacent to Snow+Rock’s existing Mercer Street store.

FBBB's Mikee Chen recently joined the UK Amplid team as it seeks to grow and develop its presence in the UK. Mikee rides out of The Snow Centre, Hemel and is an all round good chap... and this photo is rather good we think.

Mikee Chen is seen here rocking the 2013/14 Pocket Knife 150. This is a new snowboard for this season and rides around 8cm more than its actual length. Great effective edge and low swing weight, make it ideal for the UK's indoor slopes. You can demo the Pocket Knife at the SCUK Spring Bash in April.

Burton Snowboards have partnered up with Boarderline Aberdeen and been in the Scottish highlands this winter to bring you the No Snow No Show Demo Tour. With the clue being in the title and the epic snow Scotland have had this year we have already shown up to two resorts for some real on snow testing.

There is nothing like trying before you buy and as much we are incredibly lucky in the UK to have the indoor slopes, lapping them on a new board does give you an idea of feel but there is nothing like taking a fresh new stick out on the mountain to see what its really made of and where your money is really going. Burton have now created the opportunity so that you can get out in variable conditions, maybe get a few face-shots in fresh powder or hit those larger park kickers you can’t find indoors. By putting the 2013 Burton boards through their paces you can find out what board best suits you. Or it could open your eyes to new technology. So far The Nug has been surprising everyone with how short they can go in size yet still have the all round mountain benefits of a regular size board, the girls have been stepping up to the likes of the Lipstick which has improved riding and confidence on the hill. High end is not just for the guys!

So with the great snow that has hit the country yet again Burton are teaming up with the guys from Boarderline to bring you another on 'real' snow demo on Saturday 16th February at Glenshee, Scotland. You can test all this year's gear in the perfect ride before you buy conditions.

The No Snow No Show Demo will be talking place at Glenshee, the location of the tent will be at the bottom of the Cairnwell chair/slope and the demo itself will run from 10am - 3pm. We hope to see you there to make the most of these epic conditions.

We've seen plenty of ideas come and go when it comes to binding, but one that pops up every now and then and doesn't seem to want to go away is the idea of rotary bindings. These adjustable, rotating bindings make it easy to enable "skate mode" on flat ground and make getting on, sitting on and getting off lifts a breeze!

First up it’s boards.

Taking the best overall is the Capita DBX. Dan Brisse's pro-model is a firm Freeze favourite which we featured on the blog last week - strong enough for the heaviest of rail landings and floaty enough for the deepest pillow lines, it's got it all; great performance, great graphic, great value. All hail the DBX.



The Rome Agent has probably been one of the best boards of the season, every season, since it was first released so it's no surprise to see it head our Best Freestyle/All-Mountain category. It boasts many improvements since then, but the overall concept remains the same - it's a top-end freestyle board that can more than handle itself over the entire mountain. The choice of many a Rome pro rider, underestimate it at your peril


In our best freeride/all-mountain category the Burton Custom takes the top spot. It's another icon of the snowboard world, and deserves its position without a doubt. A super versatile shape and great flex means the Custom does everything well, and is guaranteed to satisfy the most demanding of riders.


Perhaps one of the easier decisions in our top 5, Rome’s Factory Rocker gets the nod as our best value board. For just £245 you get a lot of board - it may be your first, but it will grow and progress with you as you explore the whole mountain. It's equally at home sniffing out fresh pow spots as it is in the park and gives you a taste of all mountain mayhem without breaking the bank.


Our best girls category was particularly hard fought. The Rome Lo-Fi, Lobster Girl Board and Endeavor Boyfriend all put up valiant fights but were pipped at the post by the Nikita Sideways Sista. Nikita added a snowboard line to their clothing offering a couple of years back and they've gone from strength to strength. The Sideway Sista is Nikita's all-mountain freestyle board, a true all-rounder with a killer graphic and a very pretty price tag."
