Limited Edition Release of the 2015 Never Summer Ripsaw; the perfect infusion between Never Summer’s legendary Proto HD and SL.
If you are looking for a Proto HD, but you tend to lean towards a more all mountain style of snowboarding, the Ripsaw bridges the gap perfectly between the Proto and the SL. This means that all of the fun and easy features of the Proto have been retained and some might say levelled-up – with twice the amount of camber; there is no opportunity lost either when you get the sick performance, edge hold and pop of the SL thrown in as well. All in all this creates an aggressive all mountain board that will hold its own anywhere you take it.
Remember, all Never Summer snowboards are handmade in Denver Colorado, which means these snowboards have a massive amount of snowboard love pumped into them. Stand out from the crowd and ride a proper snowboard - Never Summer!
The early release will be hitting the UK in very limited numbers. Expected to drop in mid-December, choose between the 156, 159 and 157 X (wide) and get your pre-orders in at www.absolute-snow.co.uk
Don't forget, SCUK Members get a 10% discount at Absolute Snow.
Aspect Snow have expanded their range to include technical base layers for this season, just in time for both the main lifts opening and Christmas! Also fresh up on the website are a couple of new t-shirt designs, which add to the more than a dozen snowboard designs already on there. You can see them at www.aspectsnow.co.uk/latest_snowboard-tshirt

Today, Burton Snowboards is honoured to officially unveil the 2014 U.S. Snowboarding Team uniforms that all riders representing the United States will wear during competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics. The Sochi Games will mark the third consecutive Olympics where Burton has partnered with U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association (USSA) to create one-of-a-kind uniforms designed for riders, by riders. The pinnacle pieces of the uniform consist of technical outerwear jackets and pants, and in addition, Burton is also supplying the 2014 U.S. Snowboarding Team with hats, gloves, base-layers and fleece to wear while competing.
“Back in 2006 and again in 2010, Burton stepped up to create the Olympic uniforms because we felt it was imperative that a snowboard company help drive the design around what riders want,” said Jake Burton, Founder & CEO of Burton Snowboards. “Just like for Torino and Vancouver, the 2014 uniform was designed around feedback from some of the best American snowboarders to make sure that the design, fit and vibe represented our sport and our country in the best possible way. I can’t wait to see the riders on the podium wearing our uniforms.”
To design the uniform for the 2014 Sochi Games, Burton once again turned to America’s heritage for inspiration. And nothing represents Americana more than handcrafted patchwork quilts and the American flag, which are both at the heart of the 2014 uniform. After a long hunt, Burton designers found the perfect vintage quilt at an antique fair. Then, they brought it home to Vermont where it was deconstructed and re-constructed by a veteran Vermont quilt maker in order to get it ready to replicate onto the outerwear fabrics. Following this, Burton developed a method to print exact replicas of both the quilt and a vintage American flag onto the fabric of the jackets. The end result is that the quilt pattern on the jackets looks like it was hand-stitched with patchwork squares – just like the original. And an exact duplicate of the vintage American flag is proudly featured on the jacket’s sleeve. With the design inspiration in place, the next step was to ensure that the outerwear would perform at Burton’s best-in-class standards so that the athletes are warm and dry in the unpredictable weather conditions that could be encountered in Sochi. So, Burton turned to the U.S. Army Natick Soldier RD&E Center to research and develop Burton’s all new DRYRIDE Vaporshell laminate, which is showcased for the first time in the Olympic Competition Jackets. The end result is a super waterproof and breathable fabric that can stand up to any weather condition.
The Burton Olympic Competition Pants were also designed with considerable care and attention to detail. Corduroy was chosen for the pant fabric since it has been a staple of American clothing for generations. To ensure the highest level of performance, Burton sourced a highly technical corduroy fabric (also featured on the shoulders of the Competition Jacket), which is weatherproofed with Burton’s new DRYRIDE Nanoshell laminate that features a waterproof/breathable membrane to keep the riders warm and dry. To round out the outerwear, Burton also designed all items that will be worn under the jacket and pants, including first-layer bottoms and tops, three different beanies, gloves/mitts and a cozy wool/silk blend competition pull-over fleece.
“We’re really proud that the 2014 uniform builds on Burton’s legacy of creating fun, unconventional designs that stray from the formal, traditional look of most uniforms,” said Greg Dacyshyn, Chief Creative Officer at Burton Snowboards. “The vintage quilt and flag print of the jacket combined with the corduroy pants give the uniform a ‘heirloom hippy’ vibe that lines up with snowboarding’s laid-back culture while paying respect to America’s longstanding creative heritage. It will stand out in Sochi for sure.”
Michael Jaquet, the Chief Marketing Officer for USSA added, “USSA is proud to have snowboarding’s most iconic brand as our Olympic Team Uniform partner. Burton has once again raised the bar on design, function, and style with this kit and we congratulate them on once again capturing both the Olympic and American spirit in a uniform the athletes will be proud to wear.”

Snokart are the pioneers of ski and snowboard luggage. As experts in the field, they have developed, tested and designed the SnoKart luggage range to become the most relevant and credible on the market.
The SnoKart team thought long and hard about the journey to and from the slopes and decided to design a system of luggage that's made to help make that journey as stress free and economical as possible. The range of ski bags, snowboard bags and boot bags are easy to handle, pack and carry.
They are manageable and versatile and allow for convenient packing and trouble-free loading. Innovative design is the USP behind the SnoKart products with each being carefully created with all requirements in mind. The product offer is seeing increasing usage in general travel as they are perfect bags for weekend city breaks, summer holidays and festivals and gap year travelling.
The Black Kargo is part of the Black Run premium range of ultra sturdy black bags and a great example of the more general travel products available in the range. The Kargo offers 90 litres of clothing and pack space with a hideaway base closure zip for added security; hard wearing, all terrain, urethane wheels are protectively housed in plastic bodies. This means all clothes and personal possessions will stay dry and safe wherever you may be.
The Kargo is also rare in being a true convertible double-deck bag that can actually split into two and be used as two separate bags. It's therefore ideal for shorter holidays when the base can be used in isolation, or the holdall thrown in the back of the car for a weekend break.
Another key piece from the 2014 range is the Kabin boot bag that cleverly meets airline cabin size requirements. Instead of storing your ski or snowboard boots upright and next to each other, this bag allows your boots to sit nose-to-tail next to one another. This allows more space in your bag for extra items. There’s plenty of room and pockets for a laptop, clothing and travel documents and all into a bag that meets the overhead locker measurements.
In addition, this style is a wheelie trolley bag, users no longer have to struggle with a heavy boot bag on one shoulder. Just pull out the telescopic handle and roll the bag behind with ease. There is also a hidden double shoulder strap that converts the bag into a backpack, the perfect Gap Year product!

Weighing just 1.75 kg (<4lbs) the LAB Carbon Pocketknife makes use of Amplid’s weight shedding technologies pioneered in the LAB Carbon Split to smash the record for the lightest production snowboard ever built. Using topsheet-free carbon construction, low viscosity aerospace epoxy and an almost weightless Paulownia and Birch wood core, Amplid’s R&D team has managed to cut more than half a kilogram of weight from the closest contender. When asked about the inspiration behind the project, Peter Bauer, the brains behind the Carbon PK, said:
“We’ve been building the lightest, highest performance snowboards possible at Amplid since day one. When I’m riding a lightweight snowboard I instantly notice how easy the board is to ride and how responsive it feels. The Carbon Pocketknife is about taking that sensation to a completely new level.”
Like other superlight snowboards on the market the Carbon Pocketknife isn’t cheap, but it’s not nearly as outrageous as its more excessive rivals. Peter had to convince a few people that pricing the Pocketknife affordably and making sure the board got into the hands of die-hard snowboards, was worth the smaller margin.
“I was so focused on the end weight that I didn’t spare a thought to the final rack price. When it came to calculating the retail price with the traditional margins I soon realized we’d produced a 1000Eur park board!
This is an unconventional snowboard and so we had to take a different approach to pricing it. That’s what the LAB is all about; being fresh and innovative in the way Amplid designs, builds and sells its products.”
Availability of the LAB Carbon Pocketknife is limited to just 30 snowboards worldwide. The Carbon PK, which is priced at 600Eur, can be found at a small selection of hand-picked retailers and www.amplid.com

As with the Star Wars kit, the clothing was already ‘sold out’ online when it was announced but the company say it may still be for sale in shops.

iONCameras, the company that brought Shoot/Share™ Wi-Fi connectivity to point-of-view (POV) cameras, today unveiled its third-generation iON Air Pro wearable, high-definition (HD) video camera. The iON Air Pro 3 Wi-Fi offers powerful new features designed to make it easier for users of all kinds — athletes, videographers and amateurs alike, to capture and share high-quality video and still images. It retains the compact size, light weight and fully-waterproof design that have made the Air Pro camera series so popular over the past year.
iON has also announced new mounting options that extend the versatility of its cameras, allowing secure, hands-free use in a wider range of environments.
The aerodynamic iON camera line features a number of significant industry firsts, including Wi-Fi connectivity and free cloud storage. The unique iON PODZ™ system—thin, circular discs that attach to the back of the basic camera, adding virtually no weight or volume—extends the capabilities of the iON camera lines. The Wi-Fi capabilities of the iON Wi-Fi PODZ work with the iON app for iOS and Android devices, allowing users to control camera functions and settings, preview the scene before shooting, instantly replay recordings, and immediately upload footage to Facebook, YouTube and other social networks.
The new Air Pro 3 records HD video up to 60 frames per second at 1080p, with dual streaming to enable users to simultaneously “shoot and share” their recordings. A new, 12-megapixel CCD image sensor offers up to 4000x3000-pixel still-image resolution with superior light sensitivity and wider dynamic range, even in challenging low-light situations. The camera’s “anti-shake” feature minimizes the effects of vibration for crisper images, and its built-in microphone is equipped with noise reduction to minimize the effects of wind and other distracting sounds on the audio track.
Other new features of the Air Pro 3 include extra-long, 2.5+-hour battery life and a custom-made, fog-free lens with improved light transmission for top-quality videos and stills, and a 160-degree angle of view that can be customized for tighter 140- or 150-degree angles using the iON iOS or Android app.
While retaining the light weight and cylindrical shape of the previous Air Pro models, the camera casing is redesigned and boasts improved underwater capabilities up to 49 feet, with no outer housing required. The addition of a pro-grade metal ¼” tripod screw mount assures stability when used with conventional mounting systems.
“We designed the Air Pro 3 to be best in class. It builds upon the great features of the earlier Air Pro models, with better image quality in a wider variety of conditions, plus a new, ultra-tough body that will withstand the most demanding environments,” said Giovanni Tomaselli, CEO, iON America. “I’m proud of the strides we’ve made, in just a little over a year, in a competitive market. Our line of cameras offers something for everyone.”
Like its predecessors, the Air Pro 3 offers these exceptional features:
Dawn Patison, executive producer and operations director at Lucas Oil Production Studios, appreciates iON cameras’ bomb-proof design and versatility. Her team has been working with iON cameras throughout 2013, shooting motorsports coverage that airs on seven networks.
“Some of our most exciting footage comes from the iON cameras we mount on cars, bikes and trucks; these shots give the viewer an up-close and personal angle that most cameras can’t get. We challenge these hardworking cameras with some of the most gruelling conditions on the track, including end-over-end wrecks, substantial vibration, dirt and clay,” Patison said. “iON’s lightweight, cylindrical ‘mount-anywhere’ design gives us unlimited options to achieve that perfect action shot. In the rapidly changing world of HD camera technology, innovation is a must, and that’s why we choose iON.”
The iON Air Pro 3 will be available online in early November for £349.99 at actioncameras.co.uk, Crooked Imaging, Snow & Rock and http://ioncamera.com/ many of whom will offer SCUK Members a 10% discount.

Limited Edition 2014 Snowboard Release and New 2015 Design Contest
Burton Snowboards and crowd-sourcing design platform, Blank You Very Much (BYVM), are proud to announce that the first-ever, limited-edition winter 2014 Burton Backyard Collection is now available at a hand-picked list of snowboard shops worldwide.
The inaugural Backyard offering, which was crowd-source designed through a BYVM contest last winter, features the winning artwork of English designer, Simon Riviere on two completely new snowboard models called the ‘Speakeasy’ and the ‘Moonshine.’ The limited run of boards was handmade this past summer in Burton’s backyard at Craig’s proto facility in Burlington, VT. Check out the full story, videos and a complete list of global shops.
Thanks to the incredible success of the first project, Burton and BYVM are getting together again for the second annual Backyard Collection Design Contest, which kicks off today. This year’s contest features three new board shapes for winter 2015: the Show Dog, an all-mountain freestyle board that’s being developed by Burton pro rider Jussi Oksanen; the Street Sweeper led by Burton pro rider Jeremy Jones; and the Tattletale, Burton pro rider Kimmy Fasani’s all-new, all-mountain board. After winning designs are selected by Jussi, Jeremy and Kimmy, the 2015 Backyard boards will once again be handcrafted at Craig’s in Vermont.
MoonshineHere’s what the pro rider judges had to say about what they’re looking for this year’s Backyard contest snowboard models. Jussi Oksanen, judge for the Show Dog said, “I’m liking retro tourism posters, or high-contrast photos, and original patterns with bold logos and lettering.”
Jeremy Jones also has a clear idea of what he wants, “No kids’ drawings, naked chicks, or alcohol bottles. I’m looking for old school oil cans, garage sign art with hand painted lettering…random things that don't go together,” said Jeremy Jones, judge for the Street Sweeper.
And Burton team rider Kimmy Fasani, judge for the Tattletale said, "I’d like something a little spicy and not girly…a graphic that breaks the mold for what’s normally seen on women's products.”
To enter and view the official contest rules, visit blankyouverymuch.com and download the official assets from Burton Snowboards along with the creative objective, which will be used to create a unique snowboard design. Entries will be accepted at www.blankyouverymuch.com through October 31st, 2013. Riders are also welcome to register for a BYVM community membership and vote on their favorite designs between November 1st and 15th.
Head to burton.com for a list of shops where you can find the 2014 Backyard Boards, and don’t forget to register at blankyouverymuch.com to stay up on the 2014 contest.

Snow+Rock is proud to be partnering with world’s leading outdoor brand Arc’teryx, to open their first stand-alone store in Europe. This exciting new store will be coming to St Martin’s Courtyard in London’s Covent Garden, in August.
Covent Garden is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts and St Martin’s Courtyard is a unique and stylish shopping and dining destination in the heart of this vibrant shopping district. The St Martin’s Courtyard development has created a prestigious pedestrian shopping area linking Long Acre and Seven Dials, adjacent to Snow+Rock’s existing Mercer Street store.
Arc’teryx has built a reputation as an innovator in the outdoor industry. Renowned for their impeccable fit, cutting edge fabrics and meticulous attention to detail, Arc’teryx create products that enhance performance in the outdoors. Snow+Rock recently launched the new Arc’teryx Beta LT jackets (range shown below) – the first using new generation GORE-TEX® Pro which makes the Beta LT jacket 22% more breathable, and more windproof, waterproof and rugged compared to the previous generation GORE-TEX® Pro products (according to independent tests).
Having introduced Arc’teryx to the UK in 2000, and helped grow the Canadian brand to where it is today, it was only natural that Snow+Rock was chosen as their partner to open a store in the UK.
Neil Bradley, Regional Commercial Director EMEA at Arc’teryx commented: "We're thrilled to continue the rollout of Arc'teryx within the UK. There's a growing, loyal following for the brand and this partner-store is a new way for us to make more Arc'teryx products available to our consumers whilst also allowing us to give more of a flavour of what the brand stands for. To do this together with one of our retail partners is also very satisfying; we are really dedicated to working together with our customers to build our joint business."
The new Arc’teryx brand store will open in time for the Autumn/Winter season with a comprehensive range of product covering Ski Touring, Mountaineering, Alpine Climbing and Hiking. The store will also be the first place to see many products, events and offers in the UK. So watch this space!

iON Worldwide, the global consumer electronics company that brought Shoot/Share™ Wi-Fi connectivity to point-of-view (POV) cameras, has upped the ante with the unveiling of its second-generation iON Air Pro 2™ wearable, high-definition (HD) video camera. The new iON Air Pro 2™ offers powerful new features designed to make it easy for skiers, bikers, boarders, skaters and other sports enthusiasts to capture and share high quality video images, while retaining the compact size, light weight, fully waterproof design, Wi-Fi connectivity and ease-of-use benefits that have made the original Air Pro camera so popular.
Boasting a 14-megapixel sensor, the iON Air Pro 2™ leapfrogs the competition in still resolution, delivering image quality that is superior to most POV cameras currently on the market. The iON Air Pro 2™ captures up to 60 frames per second HDI video and like the original Air Pro, the new camera vibrates when recording stops or starts so it is virtually impossible to miss capturing the “big moment,” whether in the surf, on the mountain or at the local amusement park.
A new, 180-degree lens provides the widest field of view, letting users capture more of a scene, and its standard battery provides up to 2.5 hours recording time, ensuring the camera remains fully functional to capture any and every moment. In addition, iON has also added a microphone-in jack to the Air Pro 2™, enabling the use of accessory microphones for pro-quality audio recording.
With the addition of the accessory Wi-Fi PODZ™, iON Air Pro 2™ users can easily upload their videos to social sites via iON’s iOs.. The iON app enables use of an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch or late-model Android devices to stop and start recording, change all camera shooting modes, trip the shutter for still images, check battery life, and more.
“The POV category is crowded, and we aim to set ourselves apart by offering a wide range of options that meets the diverse needs of our customers. iON Air Pro 2™ provides a higher level performance, designed to satisfy those who seek top-quality video and audio – all within a cohesive ecosystem that provides a superior user experience,” said Giovanni Tomaselli, CEO, iON Worldwide.
The Air Pro 2™ is one of three cameras iON is unveiling in its quest to deliver a full line of cameras tailored to meet the diverse needs of a broad range of pro and consumer users. Also being announced are the GPS-equipped iON Adventure™, designed for travelers and adventure-seekers, and The Game for golfers and team sports.
The iON Air Pro2™ is available at Selfridges, John Lewis, Debenhams, Cotswold Outdoors, Crooked Imaging, wexphotographic.com, iontheaction.co.uk and actioncameras.co.uk - some of those are SCUK Partners, so if you're after a discount...
