Here's the park plan for SNO!zone Scotland this week.

SNO!zone Scotland are offering one lucky couple the chance to spend Valentine’s Day 14th February with time on the slope followed by a candlelit meal and Champagne served in your own purpose built, private snow den right on the slope itself!

The winning couple can choose from a ski/board lesson or a 2 hour slope pass before settling down into their own heart shaped den made of REAL SNOW for their romantic meal and fizz!

We had a chat with Jamie Smith, the founder and Managing Director of Ice Factor International who recently purchased SNO!zone Scotland to see what their plans were for Scotland's only indoor slope.

SCUK What are your immediate plans?
Jamie We've made an immediate investment in replacing 23 Pomas and one new rope tow.

SCUK Do you think freestyle is important at the slope?
Jamie Yes, we've increased the budget for the Freestyle Park Team and they now have a budget for each quarter.

SCUK Are you happy with the snow at Braehead?
Jamie We've already tweaked the refrigerant to improve snow conditions and this will be an ongoing focus for us. We've installed new actuators to improve the quality of snow blowing.

SCUK Any changes off slope?
Jamie Two new tills have been installed at reception to speed up processing of customers. This is just the start of wide ranging improvement to customer flow through to the slope. We've removed the pocket money stealers from the corridor and ordered a new Barista Coffee Machine.

SCUK What's next for Braehead?
Jamie Our total focus just now, is in making the slope/park, snow/machinery as great as it can be. A major refurbishment will take place throughout the summer. We'll keep you updated as we make progress. The most important things to us are our customers, our team and our product.

SCUK Do you plan to continue the partnership with SCUK?
Jamie We spent a long time reading the comments about Braehead before the acquisition. You can happily let your readers know that we're reading/listening and genuinely acting on the info to try and make the place the incredible destination is can be. I'll keep reading the forums and responding in actions, but you can let your members know we genuinely appreciate their input.

Capital & Regional, the specialist retail property company, today announces the sale of its subsidiary, Snozone Braehead Ltd, to Ice Factor Ltd, the Scottish based Adventure Sports operator.

SNO!zone Braehead operates Scotland’s only indoor real snow ski & boarding facility located within Xscape Braehead , Scotland’s premier urban leisure venue. It is jointly owned by Capital & Regional and Capital Shopping Centres, co-owners of the adjacent Braehead Shopping Centre.

As part of the acquisition, Ice Factor will enter into a new 25 year lease and will undertake a significant capital investment refurbishing and upgrading the facilities.

SNO!storm park plan coming soon...

Due to a couple of technical hitches in the last few weeks SNO!zone Scotland have decided to postpone the Project Friday Games until January. The park plan this week has also been scaled back. Don't worry though, they'll be back to normal service in the next couple of weeks and preparing to make SNO!storm on the 9th a real banger!

This Thursday the TheAirBag.net will be at SNO!zone Scotland (Braehead in Glasgow) on Friday with another big snow booger! From 7 we will be there ready to catch you safely as you fly off a big real snow kicker doing what you do best - some looking very stylish (mostly the young kids) while most get off the ramp and appear to have a mid air panic attack. Sessions begin at 7 and run in the usual 45 minute blocks. We hope to see you all down there!

Just a last push for Burton Hi5 at SNO!zone Scotland this weekend.

Registration opens at 6pm. Slope prices for passes are £32 for Adults and £25 for Juniors, but as ever competition entry is free, so... nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Who’s Afraid of the Park? at SNO!zone Scotland went down a storm on Saturday 28th May with well over 60 participants in our brand new beginners freestyle event. Starting off north of the border before touring down to Milton Keynes on the 4th June and Castleford on the 11th June, the riders are set to have an amazing day if the Scottish event was anything to go by…



The afternoon kicked off at 3pm with most newbies doing a couple of warm up laps before being split into their groups. Our park was well laid out with our brand new mini A frame and progressive features dotted about the place.



Dom Harington and Jon Russell provided excellent chat with all who attended as well as sharing some freestyle secrets alongside our excellent SNO!zone instructors and sponsored riders. Winners of our facebook competition got the chance for a one on one coaching session with the pro boys and looked mightily chuffed lapping the park with them at the helm.



Honey coated waffles kept the energy levels up and those who’d mastered a few of our boxes were selected to choose from our prize goodies table. A round of hot chocolate finished the afternoon off nicely for some very happy punters! All in all, a brilliantly put together, knackering-in-a-good-way afternoon for heaps of great riders who came away having mastered some awesome tricks – might have to make this one a regular party!
