We have two proposed indoor slopes for the Glasgow area. One described as being in Braehead and one at Ravenscraig. The actual locations seem a bit more complex to pin down. Ravenscraig is planned for the old steel works on the M74 SE of the city. There are four Braeheads in Scotland and the one near Glasgow in very close to Ravenscraig, but nowhere near the Clyde on which the new slope will almost certainly be built. Ali, our roving reporter for the area, has said that the Xscape development will actually be very near Renfrew. This is nowhere near Braehead - the Braehead reference is the name of the shopping centre. Confused? During recent boundary shuffles, Renfrewshire Council have taken over responsibilty for the area which includes the shopping centre and future slope, mightily upsetting Glasgow as they lose a huge chunk of income from the Braehead Shopping centre. The Xscape slope will therefore be situated right next to Glasgow airport making access from the rest of the contry that much easier. |
