Dutch dome re-opens
Posted Thursday 2nd September 2010, 2:10 pm by Dunx
The De Uithof indoor snow centre in Dutch capital, The Hague, is set to re-open this month under new management.

The centre, which originally opened ten years ago in 2000, closed earlier this year due to operational difficulties.

The 200m main slope at Uithof has a curved floor, whilst the centre’s two lifts are Poma built and the piste maintained with a Kassbohrer groomer.

The facility includes a pre-existing 400 meter ice skating rink, an indoor ice hockey rink, a go-karting facility, an outdoor biking circuit and an indoor and outdoor climbing wall as well as other leisure facilities.

De Uithof is situated on the south-west side of Den Haag and is a 30 minute drive from the Hoek van Holland ferry terminal which links the Netherlands with the UK.

The Netherlands currently have eight indoor snow centres, possibly the most currently operational in the world, although there may be a greater number of small elderly centres still functional in Japan.

The news of De Uithof’s re-opening follows that of Snowtropolis, near Berlin, which also re-opened after a few months of closure.
