Highlander park found by hard working staff
Posted Friday 12th March 2010, 2:46 pm by Dunx
The Summit Terrain Park at Nevis Range, on the top of Aonach Mor mountain, is set to host to a the Highlander Freestyle competition this weekend. However, recent snowfall had looked like it might prevent the competition going ahead as the features in the Park had become buried in 150cm of snow in the recent snowfall!

It's in here somewhere!

Chris MacPherson, Engineering Manager at Nevis Range, said “the team has worked incredibly hard to get the Park in the right condition for the competition this weekend. We even had to bring in extra staff to help dig the park out. They used probes that are normally used in avalanche forecasting, to help locate the features of the park, as well as our large snow grooming machines to shift the huge piles of snow”.

The Highlander Slopestyle competition at Nevis Range is organised by Snowsports Scotland and is part of a series of competitions on artificial slopes in the summer months and at the mountain resorts in the winter.

Donald Hall of Snowsports Scotland said “the competition at Nevis Range is the first leg of the Highlander competition to be held at one of the Scottish mountain resorts. There’s been a huge increase in interest in this years competition and we’re expecting expecting more competitors than ever before”.

The final decision has been made and the event will now go ahead.
