The entries to take part in Quiksilver & Roxy Radar are now closed. All the candidates who dream to follow in the footsteps of Torah Bright, Travis Rice, Mathieu Crépel or Candide Thovex, the godfathers of the contest, will be selected on the basis of photographs and videos posted throughout January. The prize for these young talents is to be part of the Quiksilver and Roxy Ski and Snowboard Teams.
The great news for the UK is that on Friday, Tomski Robinson discovered he was through to the 2nd stage of the Quiksilver Radar, so he's off to France on Friday to do his video and interview. We'll let you know when voting is live for the public vote.
Before reaching the grand final, which will be held during the European Winter X-Games, these grassroots freestylers must still shine on the snow, at one of 6 European dates: the ‘Happy Riding Days’ will run between 6th–14th February. At the end of these European rounds, eleven young riders will be selected by the Quiksilver and Roxy Snow Team, whilst one rider will be selected by Internet voting. They will earn their ticket to assist with the first European Winter X Games (10th – 12th March, 2010). Under the eyes of the World’s elite freestyle riders, these 12 privileged youngsters will decide between themselves on a snowpark, specially created for their age category.
‘Happy Riding Days’ – the selection process:
Starting from 6th February, six European ski resorts will host ‘Happy Riding Days’.
At each event the 10 young riders (pre selected by their up loaded videos and photographs in January) will battle it out in freestyle and freeride sessions. Each rider will perform to create a video: compiling 20 seconds of freestyle, 20 seconds of freeride and 20 seconds of lifestyle in order to reflect the personality of the candidate. Starting from 20th February, these videos will be available online at www.quiksilverlive.com/radar10, and a public vote will determine the finalist who will join the 11 riders selected by the Quiksilver and Roxy Snow Team.
Quiksilver and Roxy will offer the winner: a one-year sponsorship deal and a summer camp week.
‘Happy Riding Days’ - 10 riders at each Event:
February 6th: Formigal - Spain
February 7th: Bradonecchia - Italy
February 11th: Saas Fee- Switzerland (including Austrian and English entries)
February 13th: Plagne - France
February 13th: Trysil - Norway
February 14th: Lipno - Czech Republic
