This month British Eurosport brings 24/7 coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games from Vancouver, and broadcast in stunning high definition on Eurosport HD. The LIVE coverage will start each day following the Olympic Countdown programme which will broadcast every day at 1730 giving fans a taste of the day’s action to come. From there on British Eurosport sees LIVE overnight action with coverage from 15 Olympic sports. Other programming includes Olympic Breakfast, which will be a series of five-minute bulletins giving viewers the latest news from the night’s events. Olympic Finish Line will be broadcast at various points in the day and will feature all the best moments from the day’s action, with various interviews, reports and results. Throughout the day there will also be chances to catch up on any action missed through highlights programmes. Following the recent announcement of Team GB’s Olympic squad, British Eurosport’s commentary team share their thoughts on some of Britain’s strongest medal prospects: Chris Howarth on John & Sinead Kerr (Figure Skating): “The seven times British Ice Dance Champions are without doubt our best chance for a medal in the figure skating in Vancouver. They ended last season on a high wining the bronze medal at the European Championships and have kept the ball rolling this season by qualifying for the Grand Prix finals for the first time, where they finished fourth.” David Smith on Team GB (Men’s Curling): “Team GB’s men are World and European champions so should have a very good chance of winning. They’ve had a very average season so far but are just hitting some good form in the lead up to Vancouver, beating the Canadians in a recent tournament in Ontario.” Martin Haven on Shelley Rudman and Kristan Bromley (Skeleton): “The Whistler track offers some of Britain’s best chances of Olympic success. Turin silver medallist Shelley Rudman is back in peak form, having just claimed gold at the prestigious St. Moritz race in the World Cup. Shelley has never been fitter or faster and is certainly among the favourites for gold.” “Shelley’s partner Kristan Bromley claimed a unique triple crown two years ago, seizing the season-long World Cup crown, the European Championship and the World Championship. Kristan is peaking at the perfect time for the Games, recently posting the fastest times at the long St. Moritz track. The Yorkshireman is quietly confident and should be a great medal prospect.” Martin Haven on Nicola Minichiello and Gillian Cooke (Bobsleigh): “Women’s bobsleigh World Champion Nicola Minichiello has endured a nightmare build-up to the Games. In November, she suffered a rare problem that left her with only 20% vision in her left eye. Corrective surgery means that she can now see perfectly again but she missed several vital weeks of racing. She and Gill Cooke, her brakewoman, are fit and fast and the Sheffield driver will call on the immense mental control that took her to the World Championship last February, as she fights to repeat that success in Vancouver.” For a full breakdown of British Eurosport’s Olympic programming see our online fluid book.
