Over quarter million of the public viewed the design creations in the worldwide Talenthouse competition, that was open to budding young designers to create their own unique version of the iconic adidas iD2 goggles. Entries came from all corners of the globe, with over 380 applications submitted. John Filipe from Portugal was crowned the outright winner of the competition after adidas bosses selected his patriotic design from the top 10 styles voted for by the public. ![]() Following John’s successful win he commented; “It’s a huge honour and a very special moment in my career winning this design competition - its not everyday I get the chance to design something for an international athlete to wear. “My first goal was to design something which tied in the subliminal British theme, working with my inspiration of speed, fire and ice melting. My intention was not to make it to obvious, but to represent Britain using the colours of the Union Jack, and at the same time creating a very cool pair of goggles.” Out of the $20,000 prize fund, runner up Tamir Baasanjav, a talented Mongolian artist received winnings which equated to more than a year's earnings in his country, enabling him to kick start his own graphic design career in his country. Matthias Kosack, UK Marketing & Sales Director, adidas eyewear commented; “This was a great opportunity for young designers to use their creative flare on one of the sporting worlds most technical and iconic goggles in the industry. We are delighted with the number of amazing entries and can not wait to see the winning design at the 2010 Winter Olympics.” For more information on adidas iD2 goggles: www.adidas.com/eyewear www.talenthouse.com |
