With more cold weather rolling in, there’s no denying that winter is making itself felt this season, so there’s even more reason to attend Slide to get the best gear for next year. The Slide Awards showcase the hottest products at Slide and the 2010 version is shaping up to be extremely competitive. Columbia’s Omni-Heat family of thermal reflective technologies for clothing and footwear is already attracting attention. Taking the lead from Formula 1, Head have introduced KERS technology to both skis and snowboards to improve performance while Tecnica’s latest boot, the Phoenix 100 Airshell puts the focus firmly on fit and comfort, with the introduction of personal customisation using a control panel on the rear of the boot to provide support and comfort just where it’s needed. Entries are flooding in for the Slide Awards in the 3 categories of hardware, software and accessories. The finalists will be on display throughout the show in a special display area and will be judged on the first day of the show by SIGB retailers, media and industry opinion-leaders.
