The ‘green’ ski resort of Le Massif near Quebec City in Canaa is at the heart of a £120m investment programme. The resort is refurbishing a disused railway line to launch a train service between Quebec City and Le Massif by 2011, which will have carriages that stay overnight at the resort for those wishing to sleep over on the train and ski. Le Massif, built from the banks of the massive St Lawrence River, is part owned by Daniel Gauthier who established the Cirque du Soleil. The investment will include a new eco hotel at the mountain (2011-2013) and 30% more ski runs (2012-2013). This year for the first time a daily shuttle bus will run between Quebec City and Le Massif taking skiers out and back for a day's skiing from 26 December. www.lemassif.com |
