Two British skiers were left stuck on a lift in the Italian resort of Sauze d'Oulx when the lift closed for the day.
Philip Johnston and John Ratcliffe were some of the last skiers on the mountain and had asked the lift attendant if they could ride the chair down. He agreed, although the lift was reportedly not in public service that day, but half way down the lift was stopped.
Left 25 feet above a steep mountainside with daylight fading and temperatures falling the men fortunately carried a mobile phone and were able to call the local ski rental shop advertised on their ski sticks. An hour later the lift was restarted and the men got to the bottom.
