Lewis Courtier-Jones happy with US Open result

We had an email from Lewis yesterday evening...
Just to let you know I have just this morning arrived back from the US Open, was an amazing weekend, I got to watch all the finals in QP, Halfpipe and Slopestyle. Meeting all the top riders and seeing them killing it was cool, Peter Line even gave me his bib which I got him to sign. And I made the Junior Halfpipe Final!

In the Junior Jam Halfpipe comp there where 83 riders, in practice the standard was looking high and I knew I would have to ride well to even be in with a chance of making the finals. They split the 83 riders into to heats of 2 runs each. On qualifying I stuck my 1st run of fs air, bs air, fs360, cab360, fs540 and air to fakie which scored me 69.5 and 3rd place in my heat. 2nd run of qualifying I switched my run up to fs540, backside air, fs360, cab360 fs air and Mctwist, a couple of hands down met I had to stick with my 1st run score and 5th place in my heat and 9th Overall good enough for a place in the Finals of top 16!. During finals I unfortunately couldn't stick my runs; combination of falling, the heavy snowfall and not being able to get the speed I needed. I had to settle with 15th, which I was still chuffed with.

Lewis is part of the GB Junior Snowboard Team and specialises in halfpipe and you can read more about him on Jazz Apples!
