Burton Scrap Metal kicks off Saturday at Tamworth
Posted Monday 29th September 2008, 5:39 pm by Dunx

We have searched junkyards, emptied trashcans and hijacked the bin men to get hold of obstacles for this years Burton Scrap Metal. Returning for it’s second year, the UK’s most creative indoor competition will be visiting three of Britain’s indoor slopes and bringing with it a host of features that have never appeared on a mountain, let alone inside a fridge.

The format is simple, a one-hour practice going straight into the jam qualifying session. The judges will pick the top 10 boys and top 3 girls to go into the final, which will be held at the end of the evening. There will be prizes up for grabs for the top three male riders, best female on the night and the highest placed un-sponsored rider will win a trip to Avoriaz (France), staying at Rude Apartments with members of the UK Burton Team.

Document Snowboard Magazine will cover the whole trip and all the winners will be guaranteed a shot in the article, which will drop, in a future publication. Previous winners of the best unsponsored category include George Woolley who was recently signed too the Burton Rookie Program after last years trip as well as Neil Campbell and Simon Foster of Tearoom Productions fame.

And if that wasn’t enough we are introducing a new Riders Choice Award to spice things up a little. After every event all contestants will vote for who they thought was the best rider on the evening, then after the final competition at Milton Keynes the results will be counted and the winner will be presented with a Series 13 voucher to go online and design their very own snowboard for FREE!!!

So if you want to get creative, ride some fresh jibs and participate in one of the most enjoyable competitions in the UK get along to one of the events being held around the UK during October… in fact come along to all three and be in with a chance of winning your own pro-model.
