BOA Announce Skiing Athletes For Salt Lake

Slightly off-topic we know, but the British Olympic Association is pleased to announce that the following skiing athletes have been selected to represent Great Britain at the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, which begin on February 8.

Freestyle Skiing
  • Joanne Bromfield Moguls
  • Sam Temple Moguls


Alpine Skiing
  • Chimene Alcott Downhill, Super G, Combined, Slalom, G Slalom
  • Alain Baxter Slalom, G Slalom
  • Noel Baxter Slalom
  • Emma Carrick-Anderson Slalom, G Slalom
  • Ross Green Combined, G Slalom
  • Finlay Mickel Downhill, Super G, Combined
  • Gareth Trayner Slalom


Note: These are the events the ski team are likely to compete in. Coach and Ski Team staff will make final decisions on specific events skiers will compete in at a later date.

Simon Clegg, Chief Executive of the BOA and Team GB's Chef de Mission for the Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games, said: "We are delighted to welcome these athletes into Team GB and hope that the past season's encouraging results will stand the athletes in good stead for the Games. We wish them all well with their final preparations".

Fiona McNeilly, the Operations Director for the British Ski and Snowboard Federation (BSSF), said: "We are delighted to be sending one of the strongest teams ever to the Games. The alpine team has made great progress in terms of performance and new freestyle talent is emerging alongside our established competitors. We hope for strong performances from all our athletes."
