Posted Monday 14th January 2002, 10:55 pm by Dunx
The British Olympic Association (BOA) is pleased to announce that the following women’s snowboard athlete has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, which begin on February 8.
Women’s Snowboard
  • Lesley McKenna – Halfpipe

Simon Clegg, Chief Executive of the BOA and Team GB’s Chef de Mission for the Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games, said: “Lesley’s encouraging results over the last couple of seasons should certainly place her in the medal zone in Salt Lake City. This exciting and dynamic sport, making only its second appearance in the Olympic programme, continues to capture the imagination of young winter sports enthusiasts. We wish Lesley well with her final preparations ahead of the Games.”

Fiona McNeilly, Operations Director of the British Ski and Snowboard Federation (BSSF), said: “Lesley has been one of our most consistent performers over the past two seasons with two world cup podium finishes. Lesley will be aiming for another strong creative and exciting performance when she appears for Team GB in the Olympic Halfpipe at the Games.”
