TSA 2008 DVD release - Mountain Stories
Posted Wednesday 18th June 2008, 4:18 pm by Dunx

For those not yet it in the know "Mountain Stories" will be this year’s Snowboard Asylum DVD film release.

Mountain Stories is a snowboard film competition like no other done before in the UK. Different snowboard crews will produce an original short (5–10 min) snowboard movie. The overall winner and finalists in the competition will be put on to the ‘Mountain Stories’ DVD. The DVD will be available for FREE in October 08 from all Snowboard Asylum stores.

Film crews from across the UK have been busy all season documenting their winters riding and are now currently locked away in edit suites cutting footage, finalising soundtracks and downing endless cups of strong coffee. All teams with one goal of producing the most original, expressive and hopefully winning ‘Mountain Story’.

With a £3000 prize purse up for grabs the standard of entries will be very high. All the other film submitted to the competition will be available to view on mountain-stories.com and mpora.com

With a sway of quality submissions already in and the closing date looming it’s all go in the edit camps.

We caught up with a few crews to get a taste of what they have been up too.

Johno Verity – and his snappily named ‘Chamonixninethousandveritcalfeet’ team are storming ahead with filming and editing and are now boasting grand plans to win the competition. Johno has been filming with some of Chamonix finest freeriders all winter… and when Mountain Stories caught up with him at the boardtest in Austria he seemed pretty pleased with his emerging film… watch this space.

Whitespace productions – have had an epic winter in Mayrhofen, documenting a season spent banged up in the infamous Austrian squat-come-hostel, ‘The Gasthof Zillertal’. Despite a hideous string of injuries sustained by key player Will, the crew have come through with another banger… they modestly boast ‘We’re amazing because we don’t think we’re amazing…’

Fresh to the UK snowboard film scene is Devon based filmmaker Wat Kirby. Normally working with surf cinematography and fine art, Wat has created a Mountain Story in the Alps this winter as his first foray over to Snowboard filming.
