Even though the weather is hotting up and it seems summer is nearly here, all those in York should prepare themselves for unseasonable weather as 30 tonnes of snow is set to fall in Parliament Street on June 14th. SNO!zone, the indoor real snowsports centre at Castleford, near Leeds, is turning the centre into a winter wonderland on June 14th by building a real snow slope. Some of the UK’s top professional snowboarders and skiers will be performing gravity defying tricks at the event, which also includes a live DJ set, family entertainment and the chance to win lots of prizes. Shoppers and workers will be inspired and entertained by some of the regions finest freestyle boarders and skiers, after 30 tonnes of real snow is dumped in the city centre for the rail jam after being transported from the indoor real snow slope inside Xscape, Castleford, just off the M62. Damian Doyle, Special Events Co-ordinator said: “After the success of the previous Street Sessions in Leeds, Glasgow, Hull and Edinburgh we are really looking forward to the event in York. We have some of the best snowboarders and skiers in the UK coming to the event to throw down their latest tricks and to show people what SNO!zone is all about! The street session is FREE for everyone and with the chance to win snowboard/ski lessons and lots of other freebies, it really is worth a trip down Parliament Street.
