Kelly Clark wins Roxy Chicken Jam halfpipe to move in to TTR No. 2
Posted Sunday 30th March 2008, 3:19 pm by Dunx

The sky turned blue and the pipe softened up for high-profile competitive contingent at the 2008 Swatch TTR Roxy Chicken Jam Halfpipe competition at Mammoth Mountain California, USA. The Chicken Jam is the last 6-Star event on the Women’s Tour and things are really heating up with Kelly Clark (USA) winning the Halfpipe on Saturday, moving her into TTR World No. 2. Torah Bright (AUS) took second place, maintaining her lead at TTR World No. 1 as Kjersti Oestgaard Buaas (NOR) took third to take over TTR World No. 4.

It’s going to be a close and exciting showdown in Sunday’s Slopestyle competition with Jamie Anderson (USA) moving into TTR World No. 3 after her 9th place in the Halfpipe competition and Jenny Jones (GBR) getting pushed down to TTR World No. 5 by not competing in the Halfpipe. The Women’s Swatch TTR Tour Title is still up for grabs and the ladies will be charging for their chance to take it all home including the $50,000 top prize.

After a weather day due to high wind and snowfall yesterday, the women were greeted with sunny skies for the Halfpipe event. The pipe was a little difficult for the riders to work with, but the ladies charged through and put some good runs together. The 25 women riding in the finals session had two hours to throw down their best run in a jam style format. Kelly Clark was ripping with the largest airs of the day and some clean 720s. Her amplitude and smooth spins put her at the top of the pack. Torah Bright was throwing some nice straight airs, back-to-back 5’s and stylish air-to-fakies while Kjersti was pushing the limits with some inverted spins and fluid airs.

Sunday’s Slopestyle will be a nail-biter as the ladies duke it out for the Swatch TTR Women’s World Tour Title. There are still some moves that can be made in the Top 5 as well creating even more drama that will continue in full force at tomorrow’s finale. Torah Bright, Kelly Clark, Jamie Anderson and Kjersti Oestgaard Buaas all still have a shot to win the title. However Jenny Jones, Claudia Fliri (AUT), Sina Candrian (SUI), Manuela Pesko (SUI) and Cheryl Maas (NED) will all be fighting for a finish in the TTR Top 5 and a piece of the $110,000 Women’s TTR Prize Purse.

Stay tuned to www.ttrworldtour.com for the exciting results from Mammoth as well as sick videos of all the action from the 6-Star Roxy Chicken Jam. Also be sure to check out the blogs and fresh news coming from 3 and 4-Star events going down all over Europe this weekend.
