British Snowboard Teams Achieve Top Results
Posted Tuesday 4th March 2008, 2:38 pm by Dunx

The British World Cup Halfpipe, Snowboardcross and Freestyle Teams continued to achieve great results over the weekend when they competed in two World Cup events in Canada and the USA and an FIS Slopestyle event in Slovenia.

The British World Cup Halfpipe Team

Ben Kilner, Sam Cullum and Dan Wakeham competed in the seventh World Cup Halfpipe competition of the season on the 28th – 29th February in Calgary, Canada. The 22ft Superpipe, which was bullet proof due to the chilly and cloudy weather conditions, didn’t prevent the team from linking together and landing technical and lofty runs. After the competition Leo Addington, World Cup Halfpipe Coach commented “The guys were riding really well and Ben Kilner’s run, which included; back to back 720s, frontside 540 and a frontside 900 was his best landing competition run this year”

Results
Ben Kilner – 23rd place (pictured)
Dan Wakeham – 32nd place
Sam Cullum – 34th place

The British World Cup Snowboardcross Team

Zoe Gillings headed over to the States at the weekend, 1st – 2nd March to compete in the seventh World Cup Snowboard Cross event of the season in Lake Placid, New York. Gillings continued her top form and dominated the qualifying rounds to finish in 7th place overall making that her 6th top ten finish out of seven World Cup events this season.

Results
Zoe Gillings – 7th place

The British Freestyle Team

Laura Berry and Jack Shackleton competed in the FIS Slopestyle event in Vogel, Slovenia on Sunday 2nd March and achieved great results. Laura Berry picked up the maximum points to take gold when she put together a really clean run including; frontside 540 and a big gap to frontside noseslide on the flat-down rail. Jack Shackleton was also on top form with a frontside 720 over the kicker and stylish gap 270 on to the flat-down rail to take 6th place overall.

Results
Laura Berry – 1st place
Jack Shackleton – 6th place

The next competition on the World Cup schedule will be the World Cup Halfpipe and Snowboardcross at Stoneham, Canada from the 7th – 9th March. The British Freestyle Team will be heading over to Altausee, Austria from the 7th - 8th March to compete in the next Europa Cup, Big Air and Slopestyle event.
