The BSSF have recently selected the skiers and snowboarders to compete for Great Britain on the International Ski Federation stage over the coming months.
They include Lesley McKenna (Scotland) and Melanie Leando (England), shown here at the Dail Mail Ski and Snowboard Show this year.
After a long spell spent training in Mammoth (USA), the two snowboarders travelled to Chile to compete in the opening World Cup of the half-pipe season. A mixture of poor weather conditions and altitude sickness marred competition and a final opportunity to secure a second start place in Salt Lake City was lost.
So either Lesley McKenna or Melanie Leando will be prominent amongst the starters when the 2nd ever Olympic half-pipe medals are contested. Lesley McKenna is excited about the season ahead: “Last year was all about consistency, this summer has been about honing and refining techniques - the small improvements that will make a big difference.”
