In the present uncertainty with the airlines, there is a possibility that your flights to the snow maybe at risk. Indeed Swissair are on final legs and verge of bankruptcy only avoided at the moment by a helping hand from the Swiss Government. Various booking agencies and insurance companies will tell you to take out their travel insurance to ensure you don't loose the money on your flight. In fact following advice from ABTA the travel agent regulator all you have to do is ask for the scheduled airline failure insurance - which costs £1 per person and covers you if the airline goes bankrupt. This can be paid for when the holiday is booked as long as you ask for it specifically. It's always wise to get your insurance as soon as you've booked your flight, just in case of illness or some other unforseen mishap. Don't forget you can get some great deals on insurance through Club Direct, The Boarder's insurance partner. [Cheers to KS for the words] More investigation reveals that you'll get your money back for the flight if your travel agent is bonded, which most of them will be. I got the "commercial airlines goes belly up" insurance for 50p per trip, so it's not like it's a huge expense anyway. It wasn't clear whether the bonded protection covers the rest of the holiday. Note IANAL (I am not a lawyer). |
