Seventh annual Sprite Urban Games
Posted Thursday 23rd June 2005, 8:47 pm by Dunx
Yep, you’ve guessed it, Sprite Urban Games is back for 2005 with another awesome line-up, showcasing the best in Skate, BMX, FMX and B-Boy flavas!

Taking place on Clapham Common, London from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th July, this three day festival brings together the cream of UK and International talent in action sports, break-dancing and turntablism.

£36,000!!! the largest ever UK prize purse is what competitors will be battling it out for!

The legendary Pete Turvey and Shaun Scarfe will be creating a huge bespoke Streetcouse for 2005 which will for the first time see specific days for Skate (Sat) and BMX (Sun) with the course being changed overnight. This is going to require some serious skills but wait! Sprite has a Wildcard up for grabs for the hottest rider on the public streetcourse. He or she will be picked to compete against the pro’s in front of thousands of people!

The BMX dirt jumps will be hosting team competitions this year as well as the UK Dirt Final on the Saturday, so expect high action and serious wipeouts! The BMX Flatland will in contrast showcase balance, style and even grace from a dedicated crew of riders who will be joined by skaters in a brand new competition format: Game of Skate. Not forgetting the 12ft Vertical ramp and you’ll probably be wandering what else Sprite Urban Games will be throwing into the mix? Well how about a 25ft high ramp for FMX riders to demo their air-born skills.

The B-Boy arena proved a massive hit last year and will now increase seating capacity from 900 to 1500, allowing even more people to watch breakers kick ass to some funked up rhythms.

AAA B-Boy Pass. For an extra £10 this pass will allow you access without queuing to the b-boy arena for every performance of one weekend day*. The pass will also include a free showguide with Vans lanyard worth £5. The first 300 passes bought will also gain access to the official Sprite Urban Games after-party.

*Valid for the day of your entrance ticket. Visitors must be at B-Boy arena at least 10 mins before each performance to ensure a place and avoid queuing. Time subject to change

Bike Doctor by Transport for London will also be on hand to give your bike a full health check. Visit their stand and you could win a bike a day with Evans Cycles!

This years Sprite Urban Games promises to go bigger than ever before, so buckle up and enjoy the ride.

Gates are open from 12 noon till 6pm on Friday 22nd July and 10 am till 8pm on Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th July with last entry at 5:30pm. On the door tickets are priced at £10 on Friday and £15 for Saturday & Sunday. Pre-bookers receive a £2 discount on Saturday and Sunday - £13.
