Pro freerider and high mountain guide, Neil McNab of McNab Mountain Sports has recently been awarded the "Denali Pro Mountaineer of the year" award by the Denali National Park, Alaska. The award was given to Neil for his part in a courageous and dangerous rescue of a stranded Korean climber on mount McKinley, Alaska last May. McNab, a "The North face" team rider is one of the few professional riders qualified to work and guide in the backcountry of the high mountains and has just recently returned from guiding a heli boarding week in Russia as part of the 'McNab Mountain sports' winter programme. Conditions in Russia were very good and he and his team made 24 Heli drops in 5 days of riding! Back at home McNab continues to lead the McNab Mountain Sports backcountry snowboarding courses enjoying the endless possibility of the backcountry riding in and around the Chamonix valley. Anyone interested in any future McNab excursions or courses should check out their site at www.mcnab.co.uk for the 2006 program. Also, this summer it is the "tenth anniversary" of the "Kommunity Summer camp" based in Les Deux Alpes. For further info or bookings visit the McNab site or call the office on 01546 830 243. SCUK members can also get discounts on some of the McNab courses. |
