The new season may still be a few months away for most resorts, but the season of Autumn openings is already underway on some of Europe’s glaciers.
The new terrain park built by chief shaper Bernd Mandlberger on the Dachstein Glacier in Austria, sponsored by Burton, Blue Tomato, Bonfire and Adidas, opened at the weekend with more rails and kickers due to be added in the next few days and weeks, with full operation planned for early November.
However, team riders from all over the world are in Dachstein this week to impress the world's best snowboard photographers. The park already provides the perfect platform with a tasty mix of rails including a 10 metre Donwrail, six metre kinked, several more straights and an extra rail park out back. For the kicker freaks there’s a selection of seven ranging from five - 17m tables. Big air is possible with a seven metre high corner whilst jibbers feel more than at home on the rail and step up multibox.
A Pleasure Jam has been scheduled to be staged here again from November 5th to 7th.
