We found a snippet buried deep in the Newham Recorder's website from November 2003. It reads:

£35 million entertainment planned complex.

A state-of the-art indoor winter sports, entertainment and casino complex is set to create up to 1,000 jobs in Newham. Cresney Ltd, an international business consortium, has acquired the site of the former Beckton dry ski slope in Newham to develop an entertainment centre. The consortium hopes the project will create up to 500 jobs at the centre itself and a similar number of indirect jobs, e.g. through increased trade to local suppliers, and be a catalyst for the continued regeneration of Newham. It is also hoped the proposed development will see an increased range of leisure opportunities in the area. The proposed development includes the only dry ski slope in London.

Dry ski slope? Well it could be an indoor dryslope, there's one in Calshot, but surely not.
