Snowboard UK reports that Beckton's impressively steep 200m Dendex slope will start to transform into an indoor slope at the end of April 2001 when demolition of the existing slope will begin. McAlpine hope to complete construction in time for a grand opening on the 1st May 2002.
The transformation is costing £22m and will result in a 195m slope with an impressive 45m width. The slope will be serviced by 2 esclators and a chair lift right up the middle. There will also be a posh bar at the top and a snack bar at the bottom. A multi storey NCP car park next door will provide the parking.
There are no details on admission prices yet, but this will easily be the longest and widest indoor slope in the UK, so don't expect it to be cheap.
They also report that the Medway Snowbowl should be open by 16th February 2002. Er... that opened last week chaps - quick eh?
