The Snozone at Milton Keynes – Britain’s largest indoor ski slope – is the exciting new venue for the third annual Schools Ski Challenge, being organised by Action Research, one of Britain’s leading medical research charities. Schools are invited to enter teams of six skiers – or snowboarders. They are challenged to see how far they can ski or snowboard in an hour, and how much money they can raise for the charity through sponsorship. Prizes are offered to the team which skis the furthest, and to the team and the individual who raise the most money. Incentives are also offered for skiers raising specified amounts. Participants will ski free of charge. Skis and boots will be provided, and they will even be given a hot chocolate afterwards. This will be the first time this event has been held on real snow, having previously been held at outdoor dry ski slopes. Schools will have a choice as to which of the two 160 metre slopes they use, one of which incorporates a number of jumps. The event is being held from Tuesday 15th. May to Thursday 17th. May inclusive. Schools can ski at fixed times between 9.00 am to 5.30 pm. Up to six teams can ski at any one time, but slots must be prebooked with the charity.
