Following the success of the Milton Keynes multi-leisure centre, Xscape, Capital and Regional Properties has confirmed that Braehead in Glasgow will be the next site.

A 50:50 joint partnership has been set up between Xscape developer, Capital and Regional, and regional shopping centre business, Capital Shopping Centres. A planning application for a facility next to Braehead Shopping Centre and retail park has been submitted. Spanning 145 acres, the Braehead scheme will follow the Milton Keynes blueprint which has a ‘real’ snow ski slope, an Esporta health and fitness club, climbing walls, a City Limits entertainment centre and a Cineworld multiplex.

Chief executive of Capital & Regional, Martin Barber, says Braehead has an excellent catchment and hopes it will be as successful as Milton Keynes which has had more than 2.7 million visitors since opening in June.
