One of Europe's biggest snow party's gets underway next week in Chamonix. Chamjam, now in its 5th year, is receiving huge publicity, especially the UK. ChamJam, which runs from March 5th to 8th, brings together the continent's winter party goers and many of the world's top winter snowsport riders to compete in 'X Disciplines', Halfpipe, Big Air and to compete for the title of Boss des Bosses on snow; then to party all night to top bands and DJ's from across Europe. Boarder X, Skier X and Tele X have been part of the ChamJam Freesports Festival for the last four years since the event expanded from its original format as the BURGS Boss des Bosses, which began 11 years ago as a renegade mogul skiing competition between the ski resorts of Chamonix Mont-Blanc and Val D'Isère. It is one of the only international events to invite both pros and amateurs to compete along side each other and to include boarder X, skier X and tele X. This year sees the festival splits into two halves with the sports event being the Chamjam Freesports Festival and the music event, the Chamjam Music Festival. Ash will be playing a live acoustic set for Radio 1's Jo Whiley show, to be broadcast from the Lognan Bar & Restaurant on Les Grands Montets between 11.00 - 14.00hrs local time during Chamjam 2001 on Thursday 8th March. Then www.leftfield-online.com">Leftfield play at the base of Les Grands Montets at 5pm and Hybrid will be DJing at the Cybar/Bar du Moulin/Dicks T to be broadcast live between 1am and 3am. The Chamjam 2001 will benefit from global television coverage ranging from competition sports reportage to a lifestyle and sport fusion, including music and fashion. Sports Unlimited, Transworld Sport, MTV Snowball, The Chilli Factor and BBC Grandstand Ski Sunday will all feature the event and we'll let you know when we hear via our TVUK pages. Soulsports reports that James Stentiford has been living with a bunch of skiers in Chamonix this season and it has obviously rubbed off as he has been out doing backflips and heli's on ski's, he is rumoured to be close to 720 misty's. It seems like there is no end to his talents. Having already mastered snowboarding, skating and surfing... is skiing next? It is also beleived that Johno Verity is also following suit backflipping on his skis with Mr Stentiford in Chamonix. So perhaps they'll be entering both the Chamjam skiing and boarding competitions this year ;o) |
