Well the Scottish summer was true to form and it was wetter than an otter’s pocket on Saturday for this year’s Go Big or Go Home at Bearsden. That did nothing to take away from an awesome day and made slope conditions perfect for some of the finest dryslope riding ever seen, anywhere, ever!
After a lengthy practice session the top skiers and snowboarders advanced to the finals where the judges had a tough time separating them. Several riders put down doubles, and switch 9s were pretty much mandatory to make it on to the podium for the guys. Most notable was Matt McCormick’s massive and perfectly stomped Switch backside 9.
Nathan Sim stepped it up to win Best Unsponsored and took home the one-of-a-kind Union bindings. Best Slam was taken by Sam Gaskin, who got steam-rollered by Connor Carey during the Rail Jam, and took home a Bern Helmet for his troubles!
Special thanks must go out to our incredibly generous sponsors, the volume of prizes was phenomenal. Many thanks to Salomon, Niche, Propaganda Holidays, Armada, Westbeach, K2, Nikita, Bawbags, Vans, Northwave, Bern, Mons Royal, Line, Hoppipolla, DVS, Matix, Rome, Skull Candy, Celtek, Animal, Clast, Oakley, Full Tilt, CLWR, Union, Boax, Bamboo Rider, Data, Butta, International Paintball, Park.
And Big Ups to the McCormick family for putting it all together as well as Librance and Freeze Pro Shop who called on their generous brands for prizes. And finally Jamie Nicholls and Will Smith who made the trip up north.
Once the dust settled and the judges deliberated and cogitated the days events, Danny McCormick and Vaila Chapman took home top places for snowboarding and Grant Donald & Cory McVicar took home the goods in skiing. Congratulations guys! Full results below:
