Snowing at CairnGorm
Posted Friday 4th May 2012, 5:06 pm by Dunx
Snow has been falling at all levels today at CairnGorm. The freezing level is currently 700 metres. There is some drifting in places with the snowpack now firming up with soft powder on top. The forecast is to go colder with snow showers, which will enable the groomers to patch up more easily.

We are planning on operating the Cas, Ciste and Ptarmigan T bars and the M1 and Polar Express pomas with the Funicular running every 20 minutes and all trains making mid station up stops. Due to the warm temperatures over the last couple of days, there is now some walking required back to the M1, and mid platform, from the zig zags, 105, Lady and M1 pistes. There is also no snow on the M1 queuing area. More technical features have been added to the park since last week with a hard line and an easy line. Currently 5 features in a row (4 rails and a jump).

This weekend and for the monday holiday first train up 9.00am, last train down 5.00pm. Equipment Hire will open at 8.30am. The Mountain Shop and Cas bar will be open from 8.45am. We have a sale in both the Mountain Shop and Shop @The Top, with 30% off winter accessories. Funicular only passengers can come up and enjoy the snow outside the Ptarmigan building. Walks @ the top on hold until further notice due to return of wintry weather.
