Pierre & Vacances (P&V) report that the new indoor water park, Aquariaz, will open at Avoriaz in France next month, ahead of the most recent July 1 2012 date given previously.
The giant indoor park covering 2000 square metres has been designed by P&V subsidiary Center Parcs Europe and will be the largest water park at high altitude in Europe with Avoriaz, the birthplace of Pierre & Vacances in the 1960s, located at 1800m.
The 'conservatory style' aqua park will feature large swimming pools, flowing rivers, hot tubs, water slides, a wading pool and a climbing wall.
The entire area will be decorated with plants and trees to invoke a tropical atmosphere - a somewhat surreal experience given its location - and floor to ceiling windows will allow panoramic views of the Portes du Soleil area.
