Healthland, who run the Snozone at Xscape issued an official statement on the future of the slope and health club. It read:
"An announcement was made today that the Healthland International Limited is unable to meet its obligations to credits and Leisurenet Limited, its South African quoted parent company will be subject to a winding up order. Capital and Regional plc and funds managed by PRICOA Property Investment Management ("Xscape Milton Keynes Partnership"), the owners of Xscape, Milton Keynes are considering the impact on the Snozone and health club.
These are operated by Healthland Partnership Limited, a joint venture that includes Healthland International.
The legal process has commenced with the objective of Xscape Milton Keynes Partnership taking control of the operations.
Andrew Lewis-Pratt, Managing Director of Retail Parks and Xscape at Capital and Regional plc commented: "Since we became aware of the Healthland situtation, a contingency plan has been developed.
"Senior personnel of Capital and Regional are currently providing financial and managerial on-site suppport to the existing Snozone and healthclub management. We expect to continue the successful trading of Xscape and these operations."
Further announcements will be made in due course.
Staff at Healthland described the slope as being alive and well so don't expect to see the slope close because of this. Those in the know are saying that Healthland is likely to be snapped up.
