AIM At Wycombe This Weekend
Posted Tuesday 13th August 2002, 11:23 pm by Dunx
This coming weekend, Wycombe Summit hosts the annual extravaganza that is the AIM Series. The 2nd Artificial leg of this prosthetic tripod takes its deserved place in the snowboarding event calendar. Billed below Glastonbury Festival, denied headline status, much like the great Spinal Tap, who gracefully took their place behind a Puppet Show. The Aim Series is here to bring back the vibe that used to be synonymous with the British Dryslope Championships circa Steve Bailey, who incidentally will be present at the event teaching young kids, how to stem the blood-flow, and the recovery position.
Anyone slightly attached to snowboarding or compelled by blood-sports, should not miss this eagerly awaited bought on "The Plastic Fantastic!", "The Whore of Sores!", "The Dirty Diamond!", THE DRYSLOPE.

Saturday is practise day with the night reserved for the AIM Series "Before Party". An extended licence has been secured to ensure that all athletes are at the optimum performance level for the Sunday. A portable nightclub (Marquee) will be making its way into Wycombe Summit for the proceedings. Fortunately, Jimmy Cricket was booked and we used Bobby Davro at Hillend. However, much like an audition for Pop Idol we were inundated with requests to entertain the hordes at Wycombe and after careful deliberation we've opted for the hugely popular, triple platinum selling outfit, Supergrass! who will be performing live around about 11pm.

Sunday, and it's down to the serious stuff, Germolene at the ready. After a riveting BoarderX at Hillend, and I mean that most sincerely, this is where someone will be crowned Artificial "British BoarderX Champion". The event will then move onto the style friendly Slope Style and whopper-cock Big Air, all served up with some fresh beats from the Forum Collective. So come along and enjoy the vibe!

Arrive Saturday, pitch your tent right next to the slope, not one minute walk from the Nightclub (Marquee). Wander round, check out the snowboarding talent, visit the BBQ. Get yourself changed, whack on some deodorant, wipe your feet, watch Supergrass, enjoy yourself in a moderate and well behaved manner, put your rubbish in the bins provided, by all means shake peoples hands when you leave if you like, but most importantly don't make me use this gun.
Get up Sunday, take 2 alka seltzer, use someone else's toothbrush, make your way to the slope. Take in the tunes, cheer on your favoured rider, back to the BBQ.... anyway, you get the drift!

***NEWS JUST IN*** It's the British Air Guitar Championships on the Sunday evening in London where Ed Leigh will be defending his 2 year's supremacy at this prolific event.

***NEWS JUST IN*** Triple Platinum outfit, Supergrass, will not be attending this year's AIM Series event at Wycombe. Instead, our good friends, and a hugely talented band, SuperU will be fronting the entertainment at the Wycombe Summit Nightclub (tent).
