Come and soak up the atmosphere at the first leg of the AIM Series this weekend as Hillend is transformed into a huge throng of snowboard professionals, amateurs and total beginners watched and cheered on by crowds of spectators who just want to be part of it. On Saturday night there is going to be an after show party between 8 and 1, which thehumancollective is organising. This will be at BAR12, 12 Merchiston Place, Bruntsfield about 10 minutes drive from the slope. The cost is £5 on the door. From Hillend, catch the No.4 Bus into Edinburgh. Get off on Dalry Road outside Somerfield supermarket. Walk up Orwell Terrace and through the Telfer subway to the top. Hang a right along Slateford Road. Take your first left up Yeaman Place to the roundabout, go left, then first right up merchiston avenue to merchiston place... It's about a 10 minute walk from bus stop to bar. It's probably a good idea to print this out and here's a map. Thehumancollective will also be providing a BBQ to sell; big, fat, juicy burgers and hot dogs with salad n trimmings. All proceeds go towards the Free Tibet campaign. If that wasn't enough there will be a host of Edinburgh's top DJ on the slope all weekend to keep your ears happy. If you're actually entering they have tons of prizes from our sponsors including Salomon's best unsponsored category. This is the British Big Air Championship and you could walk away with that title and a wad of cash on the day 1st Mens = £150 2nd Mens = £100 3rd Mens = £50 1st Womens = £150 2nd Womens = £100 3rd Womens = £50 If you want to try before you buy, demo kit is available from Salomon, K2, Ride, Libtech and GNU. [From AIM Series] The Boarder is an official partner of the AIM Series and we'll be there over the weekend. |
