The latest in a tally of more than a dozen indoor snowdome proposals for the United States over the past five years has mooted New Jersey as the potential location of the first dome to actually be built.
Mills Corporation, who are involved in proposals for a similar develop
ment by the Spanish capital Madrid are proposing the conversion of an existing 'Continental Airlines Arena' at Meadowlands into a convention centre with 500 room hotel, shopping mall, entertainment centre, skate park, climbing wall and an indoor ski slope
However, local Governor McGreevey is repor tedly unhappy with the Mills proposal as it currently stands, which is the only initiatuive for Meadowlands, the current home of the YankeeNets and Devils, but both now due to move out and to a new venue by 2005. Governor McGreevey is reportedly unhappy with the high volume of retail space in the proposal but hopes to finalise a plan for Meadowlands by the end of the year.
There are also proposals for a slope in Las Vegas. Originally planned to contain Snova, developers have since plumped for a real snow slope.
