Snozone want to let everybody know that what we've been calling a quarter pipe is in fact one half of a half-pipe. They are right of course. A quarter pipe you hit straight on, whilst a half pipe you approach at an angle.
The idea is that they will have two halves of a half-pipe backing on to each other to form a hip. This will allow people to practice approaching the pipe on their heel or toe edge. Only the park side of the pipe will be open by this Friday allowing regular footed riders to start practicing their toe side approaches to the half pipe and goofy-footed riders to start on their toe edge (unless you're riding fakie...). The pipe is wide enough to allow a single hit on a descent of the slope and high enough to enable some good moves or at least start to learn how to.
The other side of the pipe will be completed in due course and they hope to have a grand opening when it's ready. We're certainly looking forward to that one.
