First Leisure has taken over the Snowdome indoor real snow ski centre in Tamworth. The company bought the site and the Pro Snow indoor snow-making system from local authority management contractor Leamore Leisure last month. Leamore will continue to run the adjacent swimming pool and fitness facilities for Tamworth Borough Council. "We've been looking at indoor snow for some time," a First Leisure spokesman said. "We thought it would make a sensible addition to our mix of offerings. "The Snowdome is very successful, but we will be looking at ways to improve the operation, particularly the food and beverage elements," he added. The company has not yet decided whether to pursue further indoor real snow sites. The Snowdome opened in April 1994 and is one of only two indoor real snow ski centres in the UK. The other is operated by Acer Snowmec in Telford. More at Leisure Week |
