Well it's cheap(er) out there so defo be up for a few pints.
It'll definately be quieter around March tbh but plus side it also means the slopes will be quieter, either way i'm sure you'll have a blast. |

| Arinsal is not the best for nightlife. Its a fairly small resort too so you need to get the area pass. Its ok and the park was not too bad with the pipe etc. It was the first resort i went to but wouldn't go again however i did enjoy it as a beginner. Make sure your hotel is near the top of the hill near the man gondola as its a hell of a walk or a sweaty bus ride if your near the bottom as i was! |

Been there a couple of times. OK for beginners, but it's a pretty small area to keep advanced riders interested for more than a couple of days. Arinsal is a bowl with essentially 2 long runs. It links up with Pal via a cable car which offers a bit more variety for intermediates. Some pretty tree runs and a little bit of off-piste through the trees / lift pylons.
Arinsal itself is a large village with only a handful of bars. El Cau and the Derby Irish pub were my favourite spots for a beer. El Cau is quite lively. |

well i only did lessons a couple of weeks ago so i'm a beginner but i got an e-mail from snowdome saying they're doing a first timers trip to the mountains to arinsal for 500 quid. Maybe a good idea to go with a group and instructors for the first time out?
Ive been watching videos on youtube and really fancy the look of St Anton or Solden Park.
Is it less busy in March because it's sh1t that time of year? |

Was in Arinsal the second week of March this year. The first two days we were glad snow cannons had been invented. Then it bucketed down for two days, leaving us with 'the best conditions all season' for the final two days.
You'll want the full Vallnord area lift pass, which covers Arinsal, Pal and Arcalis. As said above, a cable car links Arinsal to Pal, but you'll need to get a bus to get to Arcalis but it's definitely worth it.
I thought it was fine for boarding. Not many flats, and can quite easily avoid drag lifts. Night life was pretty lively. Anymore questions just ask. |

I agree with stu. Pal is a lot better then Arinsal. The cable car is at the very top of the Arinsal mountain. Also Arcalis is well worth the bus ride. From what I remember it takes about 40 minutes but the bus is free with your lift pass and picks you up from the bottom of the lift at Arinsal. We ended up getting the bus most days.
We went a couple of weeks before the end of the season and the Nightlife was ok. Not the best. It is really cheap tho and they have free food at Apres ski in most of the bars.
The Argentinian resturant does a great Steak too near the bottom of the lift. |

I've also had this email. I only completed my lessons a few months ago and am very much a beginner. I've caught the snowboarding bug and I'm desperate to get away to somewhere snowy this winter! This seems perfect.
Has anyone on here been on a previous Snowdome holiday? How many usually go? What's the general make up of the group? If I go I'll probably be travelling on my lonesome due to the dates coinciding with my boarding buddy climbing Kilimanjaro. Is that weird or normal?!

I havent been on a snowdome holiday, someone else might be able to help you with that, but heres a link as to what the 2011 one was like.

Going on your own snowboarding is quite normal. Many people do it. You just end up making friends with people on your trip and go boarding together. They will probably be other people going on their own too.
Also the Poblado Apts where I think you will be staying is ok. Stayed there a couple of years ago. But the location is great. It is about a 30 second walk to the lift and there are a couples of bars across the street. |

Arinsal is good for a beginner or first holiday on the mountain. Quite smal slope area and if you do want to get more adventurous then you can take the cable car to Pal.
Although it was many years ago when I went (2005 I think) prices of accomadation was good. You need to note where you are staying though. I was at the hotel at the top of the hill. Made going out a nightmare on the return journey, although they had their own chair lift from right outside the hotel for the morning. |

| Bit limited (by most accounts) is right. But if it snows it's got some nice open areas. |

we are out there this winter running all our winter instructor stuff and I spent 5 season out in Andorra during the mid 90's. Love the place (hence why we are now going back there) nice and friendly atmosphere small village (of Arinsal) so everybody knows everybody. Got a link with Pal can ride the Kappa on a good day (with a guide) and also got arcalis up the road whcih is a freeriders paradise.....cheap as its a duty and tax free country (pack of fags about £3 and a 2 litre bottle of Smirnoff about £
Not massive but then your not paying massive lift pass prices.
Just wrote the article for the new World Snowboard Guide on the place so if you want a draft of it let me know......Can also send you our info if you fancy a week there with some coaching.....
Cheers |
