Personally I don't think that SCUK is all that in touch with the current UK snowboarding scene, and I don't think thats down to the site, more down to the users it attracts.
I used to post on a couple of skateboarding forums, and there was a heavy heavy influence on trick progression, posting edits, online games of skate, and local/regional meets.
SCUK strikes me more as a holiday advice/shift some gear type affair. |

That's true, I'd say a proportion of that has been lost from SCUK - even in my time with SCUK (And I'm a young'un dating back to 07 I think!) I can remember a lot of Tam hardcore locals and some of the Scots etc that don't come one here anymore.
Is that a shame - yes? But its always gonna happen. If you are good and getting successful why would you want to spend your time answering thousands of posts about which type of board to buy or how to pack your snowboard bag. And I think its a shame because I'm sure they would have a lot to offer, but its understandable that they're now above us and reached a higher level. We are beneath them.
But, SCUK is, and has to be a broad church. In many ways, its the national club, so its bound to have all levels, but will always be beneath the people at the top of the scene. |

I suppose facebook have allowed these little cliques to easily form online away from forums like this, no harm in that though.
And yes generally we are all punters on here, but here cause we love snowboarding. Bit harsh to tar us all with the "c*nt" label though. Haha. |

| SCUK is all about people who like to snowboard, not about a "scene". We help snowboarders snowboard cheaper, offer information and a forum for advice to help them do it easier and more often. No, we're not the cool kids, we were never supposed to be. We don't even produce much in the way of origianl content. That's the job of the mags. We're a resource, nothing more. We just happen to be one of the most popular snowboard resources in the world, so we must be doing something right. |

Anyone that uses the lady garden word and needs to use swearing in an argument is not worth arguing with as they don't have the intelligence to do so.
Hate is a strong word Nick and I think you need to check your facts. I merely had a light hearted banter with Angry on twitter and commented on FB that the person in the landing was in fact female. I may have the username fatbob but I'm certainly not obese, wouldn't be able to cycle to Paris this Summer if I was! |

simply walk up to him and say: Do you know what "nemesis" means? A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent. Personified in this case by an 'orrible c*nt... me. |

Yeah something tells me this is about to turn into a slanging match on here pretty soon!
I agree with Dunx, I don't think SCUK is for the cool kids, but cool kids can be w@nkers sometimes anyway! So can everyone. We're all the same! We all love snowboarding presumably! This has been brought home to me this week when I went to slide down a plastic slope on a 17 year old board and was reminded why I love snowboarding! |

Gregs actually alright and what he is saying is almost true. It's definatly true for te freestyle scene.
Scuk is for snowboard hobbyists or punters. |

I'm friends with Greg. I'm also a paid member of SCUK. Therefore I am also a C*nt. I've spoken to him sternly and sent him to bed without his Horlicks.
SCUK is for enthusiasts of snowboarding. Some are the dogs bollocks some are beginners, most are average Joe snowboarder who wishes they had the time/funds to ride more but live 'normal' lives. Some are into the freestyle scene and follow all the comp results and crew edits, some can see beyond the hype and are happy to cruise around on their week holiday in the Alps then hang up the board for the year. Either way there are no rules. Cool is an illusion. This thread was started to appreciate Billy Morgan doing something which was not just by British standards but globally a cool stunter. It has now become a thread full of old scars being re opened between some and new ones being made. Continuing in this direction only serves to breed bad feeling between users. The kind of thing that makes myself and others not come onto SCUK as much. My advise for what its worth to those posting on Angry Snowboarders FB post is that you are reacting as he would wish you too. Leave it alone. C*nts was the wrong word to use. It's been noted. It was brought on as a reaction to A.S. comments which were designed to cause a reaction by the British snowboard community. Most know better than to get involved but as in this case some bite the worm and it has ended up on here. On topic, I watched Billy's video as it appeared online. I was on my way to ride Nevis range with my kid on a sweet day with fresh snow and although being scary to watch it was both inspiring and brought on a certain pride in the UK freestyle scene. Please focus on that.

So we're "c*nts" because we don't like snowboarding enough/have too many responsibilities to give up our day jobs?
All this scene gash *bawk*... I thought I left it behind in BMX along with the skinny jeans/emo music lot that are oh so prevalent nowadays.
What ever happened to people just having a common interest and being friendly? I remember riding with Wayne Rooney of all people for a day all those years ago FFS. Harry Main... I know he wont remember me but I remember when he was a snot-nosed track suit wearing teeny-bopper. Open arms welcome into Ruff Ride and the rest is history...
Snowboarding is sausage-festy enough as it is without ponces marginalising a massive demographic. I'd argue SCUK is for anyone who goes on the net and is interested in boarding/bored rather than catering to a select market.
Dunno why I'm complaining anyway as I couldn't give two sh*ts to be frank. Then I suppose everyone likes a moan now and again.
Anyway...
"Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one."
And with that, I bid you, adieu. |
