Post brought back up as been searching for some poma advice.

O.K.. So , where im at first: had my lessons, and now three solo 1hr seshions. My own set up which ive tinkered with since my last go and new feel very 'me' on the snow. My boarding is coming on well enough. Mostly feel in control of both my speed and turns. Went over a couple of times but was busy this morning so a lot of people to navigate around. Im not confident enough to have a go on a jump or rail yet but maybe in a few more months. Walk before i can run and all that. .

.. However, theres one area i really need a bit of help on and thats getting off the Poma lift. one time, let go tooooo soon and didnt make it over the hump. Embarassing. And twice hit the pad and went over on my arse! Again, embarrasing. Especially when a skier gave me a hard time for getting in the way. Yes thanks for the tips dude! Can you get chucked out for throwing snowballs at skiers?? Because i was tempted.

So what do people do to get off the lifts in a orderly fashion. I generally just go in a straight line and hit the pad.. To mixed results. Please help with hints and tips.

Snowboard down the hill as normal. When your almost at the bottom, stop and unstrap your back foot, practice riding 1 foot in and use your front knee to turn.

Just have a play then it will be easier to come off the lift and turn.

Well now that this is sorted has anyone else been on that evil t-bar at the top of the val d'isere glacier?

the devil himself must have forged it.

I think there are few drag lifts more evil than some of the Scottish ones. Some of the stacking pomas at Glenshee are brutal - expect a 6-10 foot launch esp on Glas Moal side.

It is worth persisting and learning to ride these though. Glaciers for example (due to the nature of the beast) generally have T-bars on them, so if you can get used it you can open up some great terrain.

Bingo.. Just been for my next sesh. Had a bit of a skate with one foot in then nit one problem on the lift exit at all. Felt like i had much more time, relaxed, exit, turn.. Brushed the pad a couple of times but no probs..

Would even say it helped my boarding a bit today as not once did i get to the top of the slope and feel like a embarrased tit of a beginner and tense up after a dodgy lift exit. I quite enjoy the odd tumble on the slope but not on the lift so thanks for the tips.

so glad I found this thread - been having pain in my feet for a while now so going to try out the suggestions

Just one thing - if you are riding really long, near flat sections, can that give the same type of foot pain that you get from riding the button lifts?

i found that one of the problems with mk is that the lift is so slow that you get cramp in your legs.

if they speed the lift up you will notice the cramp dissipate.

getting an adequate lift service is a dream at MK.

I noticed that on Sunday. The lift at MK was Sooooo slow, and the other lift was fenced off for some reason. I had to call it a day after 3 hours or so, as my front leg was starting to cramp up near the top of the lift.
