Update: Went to the consultant yesterday.
I've chipped a bit of bone off in the dislocation and it's turned to powder. It's now floating around my shoulder joint. Nice.
The good news is I'll be getting an operation to remove the powdery gunk and to re-stabilise my shoulder. Doctor reckons the chance of another dislocation following the op is 3%. Not bad odds.
I hear some small bolts will be inserted into the joint. And no, I won't beep when I pass through a metal detector. |

I've dislocated both shoulders in my last two trips from snagging a heel edge, the first one wasn't too bad...the second one was a lot worse and still recovering 8 weeks later, think I started back on the weights a bit too soon.
Still keen to carry on the boarding, just wondered if there was something I needed to watch...snagged heelside due to sloppy turn or poor weight transfer?
Not exactly easy to practice your falls, and it happens bloody quick so it's hard to counter your natural reactions to try and break the fall...anyone have any tips to cut down on the chance of popping the shoulders out again from a fall? |

| You can tuck your arms in to prevent an arm being dragged along or twisted which is the principal cause of a dislocation. But like you say, it happens bloody quickly and you don't always get the chance. |

Underwent operation on May 21.
Physio reckons 8 weeks before I can drive and six MONTHS before I can hit the slopes again. Could be worse, I guess. |

I have the same problem, surgery in June. However, my consultant has only said 3 months until I can do strenuous exercise again, and 6 weeks until I can do CV exercise. No bone chip for me though, just a few ligament tears which will be stitched up. |

| Went boarding last week, four months after my operation. No real problems. I took it easy and didn't have any major stacks. I've stuck to the physio programme which is tedious but essential. I'm not attempting any kickers or jibs just yet but hope to give some little freestyle features a blast when I've completed my physio. |

Good to hear you're back at it! Why are physio-stylee exercises so bladdy tedious?! but hey you'll get there, best to be level-headed i spose, better taking it slow than having another set back |

| I know the physio exercises are dull and time consuming but recently I've been really lazy about doing the exercises for my repaired achilles and last night when I did them properly again I realised that although I've been using my leg normally it's still not at full strength. |

| Just another quick update. I've progressed a lot since the last update. I'm getting some respectable air off small/medium kickers and have starting riding small gas pipes and low rails. Before I shred I do some off the physio exercises I've been taught and so far (touch wood) I've been fine. |

| Thats good to hear, hopefully you got fixed. The specialist I spoke with around a month ago was saying that if you have repeat dislocations, every time it comes out the ball end knocks a bit more bone off the edge of the socket which makes the joint more and more precarious regardless of muscle tone/ligament tension. |
