Ok, spent the last few years just doing self-taught freeride, all mountain stuff but this year have convinced myself that I should get a few lessons to remove any bad habbits I've got in my riding and also start to do more freestyle...

Anyhow, did a level 7 development lesson (as it was all that was on) at CFE which was ok... I was given 1 think to focus on, which I'm now doing consitently... but that was all I got from the lesson. The coach spent a lot more time with others... don't get me wrong, he seemed like a good guy and what he told me has improved my riding, just wish I'd got more time.

Anyhow, I want to really get some focus on this and have looked to see what other options there are - There's supposedly a 3 week development course or the pre-instructor training... tried putting these into the CFE lesson search - only the pre instructor is on, on weekdays (mornings) from 07/05. None of the development lessons are scheduled.
Tried calling them, nothing planned and they'll "get back to me" if they come up.

Has anyone else had this issue??? What's the point in them advertising courses if they aren't even going to do any or do them in the evenings?

If I were you I'd get yourself on a Maverix course ( http://www.maverix.org/categories/UK-Co ... l-Factore/ ) or two and they'll certainly put you on the straight and narrow and sort out your freestyle skills!

Another one for Maverix, but if your wanting to develop your all mountain riding more than your freestyle just let J know in advance - Im sure he'll be able to sort something out for you.

I've done a few of the kickers and rails courses now and as soon as work quietens a bit Im going to be back again.

Last time though, J picked up on some of my bad habits and after 15/20 minutes of 1:1 time with one of the other instructors have a program of improvement exercises to play with - not just one thing in particular, so my freestyle coaching became more of a general riding improvement course which obviously also helped my freestyle!!!

I'm booked onto a flatlands course with Maverix in a couple of weeks (at CAS), so looking forward to that.

Based on the above, I think if it's any good, I'll get myself onto the other courses they are offering as well.

Cheers for the replies guys...

I still think it's a shame that CFE don't have more courses on the go - They only really seem to cater for beginners. I understand that demand may not be as high but if they get them up, advertise them better then they will attract more people surely?

For the flat land course maverix will get you sorting your stance out properly before you get into things, it'll help you big time.

They also used to run a "rider development" session but i've not seen it listed for a while now so they may have stopped doing it, have a chat with J and ask about it on the day.

They also do one to one improvement sessions which may be more what you're looking for. They're quite pricey but as you're paying for their one to one attention they're always gonna be.

Check out Onyx, snowboardcoach and definition (google them). They all do sessions at Cas which aint far from Chill if it means you'll get a good day's teaching

Jake We are about to introduce a new set of lessons

Snowboard Development course is scheduled for Saturday 5th May. This is a new product which will be scheduled around once every 2 weeks as a 3 weeks course only. Levels 7, 8, 9 will be put on alongside course as normal. This product is for people that have completed the improver course and want to work on advanced turns so they can increase their control and so safely increase their speed. Anyone wanting to book on should be confident linking turns from the top of the main slope. Here is the level break down:

Level 7
· Advanced Balancing Exercises

· Development of Standard Turns

· Intro to Switch Riding

Level 8
· Turn Shape and Pressure Control

· Board Performance

Level 9
· Piste Performance- long radius turns

· Piste Performance- short radius turns

Hope that helps

Thanks for that.

I've booked myself on one of these... was meant to be on the first course tonight but am feeling sick as a dog today.

So I'll be joining for the level 8 and 9. I'm already pretty good at switch riding and don't think I have a problem turning so hopefully I won't have a problem missing the level 7.
